This was the worst hotel/ motel experience I have ever had. When checking in, the person working the front desk (Laz) did not greet us and was on his phone on Instagram when we arrived. Our room key did not work because the key machine on the door was broken and the front desk staff had to manually open the door for us every time we wanted to leave/ return to the room. The room itself smelled like cigarettes and when notifying the staff, they were smoking cigarettes on the property themselves. Upon returning to the room after coming back from a wedding, the staff said, “good thing you got here when you did because I was going to leave in 30 minutes” leaving us to think- would we have been locked out of our room for the night if that were the case? The next morning at check out, I spoke with the manager on site (Moises). I let him know about my discrepancies with the stay and was told “We had to kick the previous people staying in that room out, and that was the room we could give you without having to cancel on you”. I attempted to reach out after returning home from this trip to further discuss this with the property owner but was given the message, “"Thank you for your feedback. We will be addressing your concerns." with no further assistance. The room itself had sheets and a shower curtain that were stained, a burn stain in the sink, and a room phone that did not work/ was not plugged in. Overall I would advise people against staying at this establishment and spend your money at a place where your stay will be...
Read moreI booked a stay at La Avienda Inn through Hotel Tonight. The listing stated the room was pet friendly and that I would have to pay a $40 fee per night for up to two dogs. Great! No problem with this. The listing also stated to call the hotel PRIOR TO CHECK IN to confirm the room. I called the hotel morning of to confirm that we were coming and we had two dogs. We had to leave a message because they didn't answer. They called back when I had no service and left a message stating that they had no pet friendly rooms. I call Hotel Tonight asking for a refund because... well... I was sold a room that was pet friendly and was told NOT POSSIBLE. Can't really stay at a hotel where my dogs aren't allowed. Hotel tonight refuses to refund stating that the hotel has to approve the refund. The hotel states that Hotel Tonight has to approve the refund. I'm stuck between two businesses refusing to refund me after selling me something and not delivering on it. I arrived without a place to stay and no refund, leaving me sitting in a park trying to find a new place to stay with two dogs in a city where I know no one. I'm just asking for a refund in a situation where it seems like two businesses are fighting and I'm stuck in the middle. I can't get a call back from the hotel to help. I just want a refund. Maybe the hotel should consider cutting ties with Hotel Tonight as this seems like a common issue with them. Instead of fixing it, they just say "We can't give anymore refunds." You wouldn't have to give refunds if you just...
Read moreStayed here 3 nights. Although a little spendier than what I'm used to, it's one of the least expensive hotels near the beach. You're literally a few hundred yards away from the beach. Took me less than 5 minutes to walk to the beach from the hotel. Staff is very friendly and helpful and really will go the extra mile to help. Pool is really nice as well. The only thing I'm docking them for is the room was a little below average. That's not a huge issue for me as I spent most of my time outside. The mattress was really uncomfortable and all of the outlets were loose so everything I plugged in kept coming out. Even the fridge in the room kept shutting off because the plug would fall out of the outlet. Last little thing about the room was that there was no coffee maker. I assumed that was standard these days. On my last day I mentioned this and I was told they had them for the rooms, but you had to ask for one. Something I think it would be helpful to tell people at the beginning. Anyway, overall I really had mostly a positive experience here. Honestly, the room issues weren't enough to keep me from coming back. The last thing that is important to know is this place has its own parking lot and free guest parking. Believe me, parking in Coronado can be tough to find so having this was actually one of the things that helped me choose this place. Most of the other hotels close by do not have parking, except for the really...
