This was our second time staying at the Cherokee Lodge. Our first stay was very comfortable. Here is why our rating is 2-stars now. One star is for the close access to the beach and shops. The second is for the fact that Cherokee Lodge has some pet-friendly rooms and we travel with our dog. Below are the reasons that Cherokee Lodge lost stars for our review:

  1. Breakfasts are now snack baskets. The rates have not changed, but the breakfasts sure have. This change wasn't communicated upon booking, rather once we were already in Coronado at check-in. Breakfast vouchers to restaurants used to be given out, but now baskets with packaged snacks are given (two of the following are given: fruit, pastry, granola bar, yogurt, boiled egg).
  2. Staff will take any food left in your basket! We had no idea and figured that since we paid for it, the food in the basket was ours. We had some fruit and a pastry, then went to the beach. When we came back, the rest of the snacks were gone! Our next day basket was left, with far fewer items the second time. We ended up eating out.
  3. The staff is unreachable and quiet hours are not enforced. We were given a staff member's phone number to call at check-in, in the event we needed anything. We called at 1:40 a.m. to report incessant noise from above us (moving furniture?) for two-nights in a row. No one called me back or followed up at at check out. My husband took a picture at 1:40 a.m. of the lights above in the upper unit where the constant sound was taking place from 9:00 p.m.-8:00 a.m.
  4. Someone was in our room before check-out. A lady in workout wear was holding an item of ours when we opened the door. She put down the item and made her way to walk out and said, "Sorry, I thought you had checked out." My purse, phone, blue-tooth speaker, toiletries, etc. were still in the room. Check-out is at 11:00 a.m., it was around 9:30 a.m. when this happened. When my husband checked out, the office staff apologized about the housekeeping lady going inside our room. I am not sure why they didn't communicate with their staff about which guests had and hadn't checked out. There was no way for us to know she was affiliated with Cherokee Lodge either. We hadn't turned in our keys at that point, and the whole thing felt off to us.

Needless to say, Coronado is a beautiful place to visit with great beaches and restaurants. I believe we will consider elsewhere to stay in the future though which is really a shame, because it used to be...

We just finished a wonderful 3 night stay at Cherokee Lodge. We stayed in room 3 and while the room is not huge, we found it very comfortable, cozy and charming. The bathroom was nice and the shower was large. We visited in May so slept with the windows open and it was heavenly!! So quiet and the air smelled delicious. The towels are definitely nicer and thicker than in a regular chain hotel. The breakfast is exactly as described, eggs, cheese, yogurt, toast, bagels pastries and plenty of fruit. They have also added a pancake machine. It was soooo nice not to have to run out first thing in the morning to get coffee and breakfast.the flowers around the house and in the back are absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! But what stood out most of all was the staff!! Andrea and Tiffany are just terrific! There was a small issue on our arrival day (the house behind Cherokee had a gas problem) and they were briefly evacuated by the gas company. Andrea quickly arranged for us to be able to leave our luggage at a neighboring hotel until they were able to reopen. It all ended up being nothing but it was dealt with so quickly and professionally, we were so impressed. And Tiffany is a total pro. She is ;so responsive and even gave me her cell phone! And when I called to reserve she was the one who helped me pick the perfect room (my husband is tall). I saw a couple of reviews that mention staff not being onsite. Dont give it a thought! This is a great place to stay! Perfect location; close to the beach and all the shops and restaurants...

We really loved the unique Cherokee Lodge! It's a converted huge house so no two rooms are exactly the same. Yet our room was plenty large and comfortable and had everything we needed. We had the king size bed and it was the best night sleep we had in quite a while. We did a lot of socializing over the Continental style breakfast in the morning, with yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, pastries or bagels. I enjoyed several cups of Keurig coffee. We love the location, and got to walk the neighborhood and look at the unique homes and gardens. The staff was great too, including looking for a flatter pillow for me, and refunding the money that we paid for a friend's room so they could pay their own way. We highly recommend visiting Coronado and staying at least a few days.

Stayed the weekend here and loved it. Such a remarkable relaxing place. The home is 125 years old among the first built on the Island. The front garden is lovely (butterflies literally great you each time you come and go!🦋) Rooms are immaculate fresh and beautifully decorated with updated tile spacious bathroom. Beds are comfortable sheets and pillows are first class. Ac & Tv Work great! Lots of room and very very quiet! Lodge provides full snack area with HB eggs yogurts danish bagels muffins breads fresh fruits granola bars coffees teas water and fresh cookies! Staff is lovely. Sitting room has books and fresh flowers. Best stay in years for us. Highly recommend!
