Similar to others, the order experience was a complete disaster.
We were charged and out of pocket thousands of dollars immediately upon ordering, for a mattress that didn't exist and without a firm delivery commitment. Excuse was that the mattress is "custom made to order."
That's completely a phony excuse to take your money and helo their cash flow. All their mattresses are standard, nothing customized, and it's just an egregious business practice.
After several weeks, still no word on a delivery date. I asked, and they couldn't commit to anything. A month had passed, so I asked to cancel the oder and get a refund.
They offered a discount for the delay, and that was considerate but still needed the mattress timely.
Finally received a shipping notice with a tracking number. Two more weeks passed with no progress on the tracking, so I had to call to find out what happened. They didn't know anything, tried to say it was normal, and when I insisted it was NOT Normal they started to look into it.
After several more days, they couldn't figure it out and never a response from their warehouse. Seems the mattress was lost.
They still had my money, and no information or commitment to a delivery date. Nor a mattress that belonged to my order.
They were completely confused and there was no sense of process or competency from anyone I spoke with, including the associates at this store.
An "expedited order" was put in to replace the original ordet but still no information on what that meant for an actual delivery date.
After ten days on that "expedited" order there was still no information or commitment.
Two months gone by, holding my cash, with nothing at all to show for it. So asked for a refund.
They were able to charge me immediately, but said their refund process may take 14 days!
Good grief, what a terrible experience with this outfit.
We did finally get the refund, but if they're so incompetent managing an order, and so disingenuous in their excuses for taking your money, can you trust them on anything??
Only their basic mattress gets good ratings, all the others get poor ratings.
We were willing to take a chance, but this was such a buzzare and terrible experience I wouldn't trust this company.
Their order management and supply chain leadership shoukd be replaced. Just no excuse in this day and age to have no clue.

We were super excited to receive our mattress after research, trusting Consumer Reports excellent reviews, etc. Then the nightmare began, rec'd a tracking email but the tracking # was not complete so I was not able to track. Called customer service (Faith) who assured us she would look into it and get back to us in 24-48 hours. Not sure why it would take 48 hours to figure out where the mattress is that shipped from the factory in So. Cal to the middle distributor in Nor Cal, but ok. Then when I returned home today the mattress was sitting outside my front door!!! We paid a lot of money to receive the "white glove" set up of the new mattress and removal of our old mattress and were supposed to have rec'd a phone call to set up a time convenient for us for this to happen, not have dropped at our front door. BEWARE, these mattresses are very heavy. With great effort and 3 adults and 1 teenager we were able to finally get it in to our garage so it wouldn't be stolen or suffer any damage from being outdoors. Then at 3pm PST I tried to call the store in Corte Madera, CA at the number on the website and the auto response said Avocado is CLOSED. The website says that the store is open until 7pm PST. Then I tried to call and text the number that Ken gave me and it was always busy and I rec'd no response to my texts. We are incredibly disappointed and want a full refund of our payment and for the mattress to be picked up immediately. Additionally we would like to receive payment for the damage to our wheeled cart that we used to move the mattress inside--it was broken in the process. I am happy to hear that some have had seamless experiences with the process but this was NOT our experience. Avocado needs to set up a better system for delivery or they will lose many customers. I wanted to leave a review for Alex R., and Xander at Avocado for their excellent customer service - particularly Alex R. who spent quite a bit of time with me over the phone over the last two days to clarify product details on the eco adjustable base that I wanted to purchase, which I ended up buying and very happy to have bought it, along with an avocado green mattress and accessorizing with blankets and a mattress topper. I LOVE LOVE LOVE to see the unique customer service approach of Avocado where you actually can reach a living breathing human being over the phone and speak to them. Alex's style was genuinely un-hurried, and was very patient in answering several questions I had, he even called me back as he said he would a few times to ensure connection, and he was very polite, very evident that Avocado truly invests in their team's training as was proof of Alex's skilled performance in handling my inquiries, and I am not a very easy client to please, I look for ways to really challenge merchants to see how well they perform over the phone, and that is a great benchmark to back up the products they are selling. Avocado is at the echelon of all mattress companies and they are ETHICAL and RESPONSIBLE in their manufacturing and their team members are simply trained very well - that is unheard of, you do NOT receive that kind of service from Dreamcloud, or Purple or Casper, which is why I kept coming back to Avocado, and with a 20-year warranty on the eco adjustable base, I know I am confident about making the right choice.
