I have been looking for a pair of American made boots for a while. I made the decision to purchase the 6-inch moc toe Thorogood Boots. Luckily, Nokomis Shoes at the Crystal location had exactly the right size and color that I wanted. I had called the day before to asked about the boot and Hailey was very helpful in answering my questions. She even put the boots to the side for me to look at the very next day I went in, very thoughtful. As I walked in, I was greeted with a smile by Jake. I had informed him that there should be a pair of Thorogood boots set aside by Hailey the day before. As soon as I was done with my sentence, Hailey greeted me with a smile as well and told me she would go grab the boots. As I sat down, I was greeted by AJ. Him and I had quite a conversation about boots. Since these were my very first premium leather boots, I had a whole lot of questions. As AJ and I were talking back and forth, Hailey patiently waited and would occasionally ask if the boots felt good, if it was too tight, etc. She even allowed me to walk around the store to get the best feel for the boot since premium leather boots are different in comfort. I also wanted a good pair of American made wool socks to go along with my new boots so AJ introduced me to some quality brands such as Smart Wool and Darn Tough. Probably after five to ten minutes walking around the store in the boots, I finally decided to take them off and make my purchase final. As I was taking these off, I noticed both boots had very minor scratches and scuff marks. Being that I am very particular, I had asked Hailey if she would grab a new pair or two for me to compare and see which ones would be better. Without hesitation, she was right on it. As I sat and waited, Jake came by after helping another customer and from my earlier conversation with AJ, he told me that Jake had on the exact pair of boots that I was about to purchase. So I started to ask Jake a few questions, trying to better understand from an owner's perspective. Jake was very sincere and helpful in answering my questions. As soon as Jake and I was done, Hailey came by with two boxes. After analyzing all three pairs, I finally made my decision. I ended up grabbing another pair of wool socks because of a Christmas deal and some laces. Steve, the owner, happened to be at the counter as Hailey was ringing up my items. I had seen a Youtube clip of him years earlier so I recognized his face. Basically, with such a knowledgeable, friendly, and caring staff, I had to introduce myself and shake his hand. There are reasons why businesses survive for so many years. Yesterday, the day before Christmas, I had experience first hand one of the many reasons as to why Nokomis Shoes have been around for so long, it is their great customer service. Overall, this experience has been unforgettable. Not only do they offer top notch products. The staff are great. The atmosphere is welcoming. They have won me over as a lifetime customer. They have all the top brands with a great selection of boots and work wear. I purchased the Thorogood flatsoles with safety toe before from here and had a great experience. This year, my boots were worn out so I decided to just re up on the same set since I loved them. Got a set of 8.5 wides and felt OK in the store, I always get the Timberland pro series insoles for my boots, so I had them in, fit felt ok. Worked at my job in them for a work week, and the left boot broke in great, the right, for some reason was crippling me with pain, the heal fit didn't seam right and there seemed to be some imperfections. I decided to return the boots for an identical pair due to this issue, they handled the return after explanation immediately. However, they did not have an identical set at the location and only in the south Minneapolis location had the size I needed. I had no time to run down there and could wait a few days, they offered to ship them to my house, I agreed. Waited 5 days and no sign of the boots. I gave them a call, and after some investigation we figured out they got my address slightly wrong, so they shipped to the wrong house. At this point I needed the boots for work. They unfortunately had to get the new set in my size from the next shipment,which was due in a couple days. This was an inconvenience, but no big deal, the manager told me he'd have them couriered to my doorstep by Tuesday, this was Saturday when we spoke. The boots arrived on Monday morning, and they fit perfectly. Stuff happens to everyone, and this company made sure I was satisfied in a timely manner, this was really top notch customer service. I wanted to show/tell you how FANTASTIC my trip to Moab Utah was. I think it could have gone sideways if not for my KEEN hiking boots purchased at the Crystal store!! The KEEN’s were awesome!!! They did not slip and the bottoms gripped the slickrock while we hiked over many precarious trails. Hands down best purchase I made for this trip!! A huge shout out to Brian (I think) who was very helpful in helping us pick out the best hiking boots for our trip. He was extremely knowledgeable about all the products in the store. And we got a HECK of a deal on the price....same boots were about $10 to $20 dollars elsewhere (and on the internet as well). Fabulous!!! The selection is also amazing!! I WILL be stopping in again for gifts and shoes. Such a cool store that I did not realize was right...
