Wow. Had a very bad experience here. Traveling straight non stop from Pittsburgh to Cumberland and was a bit fatigued and slow but how the owner treated me was one of the worst bike shop experiences I have ever had. I am riding a salsa cutthroat with an integrated framebag which is bolted into the frame. I mentioned kindly (a bit fatigued) that I am not able to take off (unfortunately) the framebag. He stated ‘out of respect for the mechanic you need to take the framebag off’. I completely understand having respect for mechanics. I have deep deep respect for mechanics. His attitude was out of line and not professional/empathetic whatsoever. Then it escalated from there. He actually kicked me out of the shop! If any one of my bike shop owner friends witnessed this, they would shake their head in disbelief. Maybe a bad winter season at the bike shop? Family troubles? They can probably help majority of riders 100% along the trail no problem but put something in front of them they may not fully understand and couple that with a bad day - watch out for frustration. I assume an integrated handmade framebag bolted to a carbon frame is a bit more the owner could handle. He just wanted the bags off the bike immediately. I totally understand. But it is a major job to take off this type of framebag in comparison to the scope of work asked (check brakes). But the mechanic was totally fine with it. I left in hurry, having no work done, telling the owner he needs to relax a bit. Poor guy. Two stars for the mechanic and the nice cat. Rule of thumb: if the owner of a bike shop looks like a disgruntled old hippy, he...
Read moreMy rear wheel developed a wobble after the chain popped off. Took the bike to CTC and a bike mechanic identified the problem as a broken spoke with a quick spin of the wheel. Within 2 seconds he says "I bet it's a broken spoke." In short order he found the culprit.
I asked them to repair, adjust brakes and do an overall tune up. He said they were pretty backed up and it would be next week before we got the bike back. I asked if there was anyway to get it by Friday (3 days later) because we were planning a bike trip.
He said they would try but no guarantees. We got a message the NEXT day that the bike was done. Everything fixed to perfection and they also cleaned the bike up on top of it.
I couldn't be happier with the expertise of the mechanic, the service we were provided and the bike trail ideas he gave us too.
I didn't expect the bike to be done so quickly and wouldn't presume on such in the future, but it was classy that they took into consideration our planned...
Read moreGreat location, nice store, super friendly and helpful staff. We rented 3 well maintained and perfectly tuned bikes for our ride to Pittsburg on the GAP. Since we are three riders with very different skills, we rented a gravel, a hybrid, and an ebike. All worked perfectly for us and made for a very enjoyable experience. My wife was initially concerned about the range of her ebike as we were riding 72 and 78 miles days, but that turned out to be a non-issue as she had 2 bars left on both days. Mandella, the owner, also arranged to have the bikes picked up at our hotel in Pittsburg. All this for a very reasonable cost. Thank you for the amazing experience!
If I was planning this trip again, I would ride Cumberland to Ohiopyle and back. The Pittsburg section is urban biking and is not pretty. Spend some time hiking and rafting in Ohiopyle. And, do not miss...
