I've been going to Competitive Cameras for all my photography equipment for years. I started off in 2006 with Olympus equipment, made some upgrades, then switched to Nikon, and have gone through three camera body upgrades and many lens purchases. In the course of the years of doing business with Competitive Cameras I've had to have two Nikon Lens repairs and one Sigma lens repair due to these lenses being dropped.
On every occasion, I have been nothing less than impressed with the service I received from Competitive Cameras and, specifically, co-owner, Eugene Jabbour.
Eugene's knowledge of camera bodies, lenses and accessories is quite astounding. He has everything committed to memory - specs, comparisons, prices, etc. You can get more important and appropriate information for whatever you need from him in five minutes than spending an hour in on-line research.
Over the years there have been special projects where I needed to rent a specific lens, studio lighting equipment, or a special ring flash. These items were always available, the rates are inexpensive, and the guys at the store will take the time to teach you how to properly use it without an extra charge.
Any professional or serious hobbyist in the Dallas area knows all about Competitive Cameras. This is a place where all the pros go.
In a day and age where on-line sales has attempted to "commoditize" everything, the guys at Competitive Cameras provide you with a level of service that will impress you and keep you coming back. It's hard to put a value on this kind of service. When buying important and expensive equipment, you want to know you are buying the right piece for your specific need. You want a face you can come back to should something go wrong or need repair. Whether you are buying an inexpensive travel camera or a multi-thousand dollar lens or camera body, Competitive Camera will have the item in stock and equip you with all the information you need to make a smart purchase - and their prices are very competitive with what you find on the internet.
I remember one purchase I made where I had been wavering between one of two similarly priced lenses. I made a decision and took the lens home. Over the course of the next two days I realized I really should have purchased the other lens. When I went back to Competitive Cameras, they took the lens back - no questions asked, and sold me the other lens. No hassle. No penalty.
True, the store is in an out-of-the-way location, the building is older, and the interior does not have the fanciness of a brand new mall store, but I have found the 25 minute drive in from a North suburb well worth the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been a customer of Competitive Cameras Ltd for over 20 years. I have visted other camera stores in the Dallas/Fort Worth area in the past but I have yet to find a camera store in the DFW area that has the inventory and services I want in a camera store.
If I want a particular camera, Competitive Cameras will have it 99% of the time. If I want to rent a camera or a lense Competitive Cameras more than likely will have the lens I want to buy or rent.
Competitive Cameras is a photographers store. From pros to amateurs and beginners you can count on Competitive Cameras to have what you are looking for.. even if it is just the proper guidance for those desiring to get into photography.
In addition, they offer various workshops and often have reps from Nikon, Canon, Sony, and Fuji set up to show you the latest gear from their respective companies and they sometimes even examine and clean your gear at no charge.
If you have old camera gear they may buy it from you depending on the condition and age of the gear you might have.
If you are looking for gear Competitive Cameras has camera bodies, lenses, camera bags, filters, drones, video gear, straps, tripods, lighting gear, used camera gear and more. Competitive Cameras is a photographer's Candy Store. If they don't have it, there's a goo chance they can get it for you.
The one thing that I really appreciate about Competitive Cameras is their loyalty to their customers. My own personal example is when I was searching for a camera that was in such high demand that people were waiting months to get one. I was told it was sold out everywhere and I began searching online for one. At the time I just knew I would not find one in the DFW area.
Across the entire country the Fuji X100V was just not available. Waiting lists were very long. I called Eugene, the owner of Competitive Cameras, and asked if he would put me on the waiting list for one. He asked what color I wanted and I said black. He said "Just come down and get it. I have one for you now." I asked him how he was able to offer me the camera when it was sold out everywhere, not only in DFW but around the world. He said "I take care of my loyal customers." Thirty minutes later I had the camera in my hand. Wow!
Competitive Cameras should be your first stop when looking for photography gear. They are pretty much a one stop shop when it comes to photography gear.
I highly recommend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIn the days of buying things online or at the giant retail store, it fills my heart with tremendous joy knowing that there are still family owned businesses that excel in every single aspect in terms of service, quality of product, knowledge and product availability.
I've bought a 50mm prime lens, an 11-16 tokina and I'm saving up to buy more stuff and I exclusively buy everything from Competitive Camera. I don't need to look anywhere else because their prices are always outstanding.
I read some of the bad comments below and couldn't disagree more. They must have been "those people" who define the rude and difficult customer because I've talked to all of the employees, and can't comprehend what type of "rudeness" they were referring to. With social skills of that type I can see why they do their shopping online.
When you've got 20 people in line trying to return their equipment and move on, you don't have time to chit chat. If you don't know anything about the product, maybe you should do some research and have your questions prepared, this is not a store that is going to spend 30 minutes explaining what ISO means. If you don't get it after 2-3 minutes, then maybe you need to read a book first and come back.
I know first hand that every single time I've been there, (even if I don't buy something) they take the time to explain everything they know and answer ALL of my questions. If there's lots of people, then obviously they won't have time to do this, but they still answer my questions.
I've never had to return anything because I've always made the right choice so I don't see why some people are complaining so much. If you did your research, or maybe rented the equipment to try it out first, there wouldn't be a need for a refund because you knew what you were buying. This whole "eh, I'll return it if it sucks" mentality shouldn't be allowed in photography and if there's a faulty product, I'm sure they're reasonable.
It's THESE kinds of situations that hold up the line.
The only negative thing I'd say, is their hours. Having 4 different jobs, it's difficult to find them open on my schedule.
Wonderful service, wonderful store,...
