Harsh interaction experienced at Triumph Coffee on April 18th, 2024, at 1:15 p.m. Despite having just purchased a latte, I was rushed out the door because I was eating a cup of soup. I don't drink coffee on an empty stomach, and Triumph's food didn’t appeal to me at the moment. The way this person handled the situation was crude and unprofessional.
One possibility was to note that I had a large number of items on hand and offer to help me take the drink outside. Another wonderful alternative was to offer to make a fresh replacement when I returned. In any event, anything other than what was done and in a courteous, not condescending manner, would’ve been the appropriate thing to do.
As newer customers, my partner and I had previously made multiple purchases in a single visit and wanted to do so again on this occasion. We'll skip the jazz night that we were going to try. Unfortunately, after wasting 15 minutes getting here, I had to quickly reconsider why I came and whether it was worthwhile. I walked away since the environment was so unwelcoming. Thankfully, my partner, who was meeting me after work, hadn't gone too far and could come pick me up. Instead, we chose Houndstooth Coffee since we knew it would have a friendlier, more pleasant atmosphere, and it did.
There’s no reason I should’ve been put on the spot in that manner when there were more polite solutions. It's bad when you compliment someone's hair and they not only don't hear you, but also point dismissively at the water station to get you out of their hair. I guess I should've seen it coming, but, if you're this busy and having a bad day (which is understandable), consider that that making things worse doesn't lighten the load. I wished that person a better day than they were having. Online feedback suggests that this isn't just one person's bad day, but rather a company culture issue that leads to employee unhappiness; take care of your people, and they'll take care of you.
Anyways, what an avoidable moment in today. This is no longer a space I wish to be in or support. I'll continue to support other local specialty coffee shops, as well as Rex's Seafood and Market. There are better options, and if you're searching for a shop near Dallas, I fully recommend visiting Full City Rooster! Such places are becoming increasingly rare. They close earlier in the day, but the quality, civility, and meaningful conversations are unparalleled. LDU is a different favorite for on-the-go. They are also lively and uplifting.

Read moreI went at kind of an off hour so maybe my experience wasn't typical, but service was sub par. The barista was having a conversation with a woman for several minutes while I waited. Fine, I'm not in a hurry. I ordered and sat and waited for my drink. I watched a couple come in and wait to be noticed so they could order. Then they struggled with what to order because the menu wasn't clear or complete. The barista helped them through and they sat at the bar.
I had considered going to ask about my drink because it had been a while, maybe they forgot? But my coffee finally came out and was brought to me. That was the best part of the customer service, I had expected to have to go get it from the bar.
My boyfriend came in and wanted to order but struggled like the couple because of the menu issue. The young man who brought out my coffee showed him a QR code to scan. My boyfriend ordered an old fashioned and it was delicious.
The coffee was great and the atmosphere was very nice. My guess is that, aside from the menu issue, the drink drink delays came from the staff preparing for their evening shift. Staff was setting up lighting, shifting seating, preparing the kitchen, etc.
I'd come back during their peak hours to experience it as it should be. I'd also like to try the Kyoto style coffee. Not many...
Read moreThe service was terrible!!!!!! I’m never a customer to complain because I’ve worked in hospitality over 5 years so I understand all different types of customers. It took over 20 minutes for someone to even greet us. I came here to have a wonderful night out with my mother and enjoy some espresso martinis. Our bread with our spinach artichoke came out burnt and crispy and the server told us that’s how it’s supposed to come. He did bring us a better batch after we requested which was great. We did not like our espresso martinis they were bitter and we expressed to him about it. We waited 30 minutes for a remake due to them having one bartender drowning at the bar by herself until our server decided to finally make our drinks after telling us SHE was the only bartender. My mom asked for water she waited 30 minutes and had to remind him again that she asked for another water ridiculous!!! This place is beautiful and vibe is too nice to have customer service like this!!!! Lastly, we noticed everyone receiving their bills in a wooden box and we received our bill with just pen and paper which was weird, we were not nasty to him at all but his vibe was weird because we were calling him out on the burnt bread, him making our drinks after telling us it was only one bartender, and then the bill...
