I visited Peticolas Brewing Company last Friday around 9 PM with a group of friends. We were excited to try the beer and enjoy the evening. After ordering our first round, I asked the woman behind the bar if we were allowed to eat the food we ordered from the food truck at the bar. She told us the food truck was part of the bar and said it was no problem, so we stayed at the bar to enjoy our food and drinks.
Later, after ordering a second round, one of my friends accidentally spilled a beer at the bar. We politely asked a man behind the bar (based on your website, his name appears to be Jason Rodriguez) if we could have a rag to clean it up. Instead of helping us, he got upset and said, “Why are you eating at the bar if we have tables?” His tone was rude and condescending. While he didn’t directly tell us to leave the bar, the way he spoke to us made us feel really uncomfortable and unwelcome, so we chose to move to a table.
There are much better ways to handle that kind of situation, better manners and a more respectful tone would have gone a long way. We weren’t trying to break any rules and we had actually asked beforehand and were told it was fine.
To make things worse, when we later tried to order one last beer before closing, we were told last call had already happened. But no one had come by the tables to announce it, so we had no idea. That kind of poor communication creates a frustrating experience and causes the business to miss out on sales.
I looked at the “About” section on your website, which begins with: "We’re fun, friendly, down-to-earth brewers delivering world class passion in a glass." Unfortunately, our experience was far from that, especially because of how Jason treated us. We were respectful customers just trying to enjoy our night, and we left feeling disrespected and...
Read moreThe Peticolas lineup of beers rivals other breweries in Texas and across the US. I enjoyed their IPA at a local burger spot. Then, walking along the waterway, I stumbled across their taproom. Best night to cap my trip to TX. I have traveled from east to west coast and everywhere in between. Peticolas has a great take on a lot of beer styles. Well balanced and every “special” beer is never over the top. For example, the ghost chili pepper brown has a bit of warmth, but not “melt your face off” chili spice. The Duke barley wine is the most drinkable 12% barley wine I’ve ever had. I am a home brewer with quite high standards when it comes to beers, and I think Peticolas is in my top 5 of breweries in the country. The diversity of beer treats, the taproom ambiance, and the friendliness and approachability of the staff is great! I arrived hungry, and was happy to hear that I could order food from a local food place AND have it added to my tab (rather than paying separate). Enjoy the little things. And they make all the difference. If I lived in Dallas, I would be a regular. Unfortunately, I live in Wisconsin. I can’t wait to see what this brewery does next. They obviously have a great perspective on how to succeed in an ever competitive beer...
Read moreHad an awesome first time at Peticolas last night with some friends. The brewery had an adult game night with tons of fun games and of course delicious craft beer! Peticolas is located in the reviving market district area surrounded by new and local restaurants, businesses, and warehouses. Upon entering Peticolas you are greeted by the beautifully wood wrapped stairs and floor. The stairs open up to their medium sized bar area with open air seating on the left side and closed seating on the right side. There is tons of room to spread out, have a meet up, and just relax and have a few beers.
And the beers are delicious! I am not a huge beer drinker, but the peach ale and the don't call it a cola were my jam! The peach ale was very light and refreshing and at 12% ABV is stronger than you think--but so easy to have one or two, okay maybe three. The don't call it a cola was a dark beer with a nice hint of vanilla.
Unfortunately they do not have food on site, but you are welcome to bring in your own. The staff are super nice as well and allow you to try various beers and they are just gracious hosts.
I definitely would come back to Peticolas for their beer and for some games; and of course the amazing customer service! I felt like I...
