Wanna know what I hate the most about this coffee shop? That I’m far away from it :/. I’m a big treat enjoyer, and man are these lattes quite the silly treat. I feel like every time I enter a 10 mile radius of this place, its siren call lures me in and then the next thing I know, I have a silly lil drink in my hand and I can make it through the day since I’ve successfully been able to romanticize whatever menial task brought me to Dallas in the first place. Their seasonal menu HITS, but not in a way that adversely affects one’s vitality, but instead, it’s more like drinking a mana potion irl. The magic this latte brings makes the endured trials and tribulations (driving in Dallas) worth the journey. When I first came here, I tried the strawberry rhubarb seasonal drink, and didn’t think it could get any better. Then, I tried the more recent pistachio float latte… and it really felt like that moment in Ratatouille where Remy is mixing flavors and there’s this beautiful spark of enjoyment. 10/10 no notes. The baristas could literally throw a hot latte at me and I’d probably open my mouth just to try it. Thanks for being my fave place to get a...
Read moreCoffee is usually good. I have had 1-2 bad cappuccinos in the past few months, but it is always drinkable.
Atmospherically, it is simple and tasteful. The interior designer on this one probably deserves a raise, but the bar designer should be demoted. I know that the workflow behind the bar is probably optimized, but the flow of guest traffic from the door to the POS is a little confusing and disjointed. The bar depth is MASSIVE, which provides a lot of workspace for baristas, but cuts into the overall space significantly.
Generally decent place to get some work done, but (as stated in other reviews) the WIFI is finicky and does not work at all during peak times.
I don't know if this is a cultural thing, if I am spoiled, or if my standards are just too high, but the guest service in Dallas is severely lacking. I moved here about 4 months ago, and have yet to experience truly good service. Though some other shops have provided adequate connection, eye contact, and deference, Wayward is consistently below average, with (seemingly) perpetually annoyed baristas. It (hopefully) never hurts to smile and at least pretend happiness at the...
Read moreTo start off, I'm a Wayward loyalist. I stand behind my boys almost always and tend to recommend them to anyone looking for a quality craft coffee shop in the DFW area.
Wayward has always intrigued me because they really seemed to nail the industrial artsy hipster coffee thing. It works. It really does. They bring in a ton of plants and then spotlight quality roasters. The combo is a winner.
Here's my only complaint. The last few times I've been, I really feel as if the ratio for most the pour overs has been off. (to be specific: seems like way too much water. Both in pure volume and mouth feel.) There's a million things that could cause this but I think it's worth mentioning since the brand aims to showcase these dainty awesome processed coffees. Could just be a general house recipe being used across a large scatter shot of different beans.
Anyways, that's nit picky. Worth mentioning since I hold wayward to a pretty high standard but overall, it's always a...
