Hotel 6 is not a luxury brand, of course, but this particular location could not meet even my forgiving standards. Where to begin? The towels and sheets, which featured unidentified stains and abandoned hairs, were almost as filthy as the floor and walls, which featured kick marks, exposed plaster, and even an ancient smudge of Crest on the bathroom wall. The shower worked well, so that was a blessing, but it didn’t make up for the cracked sink, which upon my first use created a muddy puddle on the bathroom floor. (Luckily, there was a filthy bucket to catch the water). The room came with a prison-sized bar of soap and a short stack of paper cups, but no other accessories, save for the daddy long legs standing guard at the front door. Meanwhile, the antiquated refrigerator and aircon buzzed and clattered so loudly it sounded as though a B-17 was idling at the foot of my bed. The final indignity was the lack of a Bible. It’s not that I normally reach for the Good Book in hotel rooms, but on that night I really needed one to help me pray to the creator to protect me from bedbugs, deadly DNA or whatever else might be laying in wait for me, either inside the room, or outside among the unsavory characters drifting through the parking lot. Needless to say, folks, the hotel's own photos look nothing like the actual room I was in. Really, the absolute pits. I cut my stay short. I recommend you...

Read moreI stayed at this motel after watching the total eclipse from Dallas. I wasn’t sure where I’d be because I’d planned to chase the eclipse, but ended up staying in Dallas & needed to quickly find a place to stay for the night. |This hotel is probably the worst I have ever stayed at. The reception desk had a plexiglass screen, which was not a good start! |Checking in was quick & easy, but not at all friendly. The area outside seemed sketchy with a few dodgy characters hanging around.|The elevator smelled of weed & the corridors like bleach. The room was dark & dingy and I could immediately see creepy crawlies on the floor.|In the bathroom it was even worse, with roaches crawling up the walls and in the bath. It was so bad I could not take a shower. I am quite shocked that Hotels.com have this motel listed on their website/app because I thought they would have a minimum standard.|The whole feel of the hotel was cold & unwelcoming, apart from the roaches, who were...
