Read moreThis building symbolized Dallas for me. It has such an interesting shape and almost mirror-like façade, it's very intriguing and instantly recognizable despite not being the tallest building in the city.
Fortunately the building itself is not the reason for this review, it's the surrounding of this 220 meters tall skyscraper that gave it its name - Fountain Plaza. I was absolutely shocked by the beauty of it as I have never seen a place like this in my life! The array of 172 dancing fountains in the plaza is just spectacular. The water cools the air, and the grown trees provide shade, therefore I felt very comfortable on a hot Friday afternoon. There are plenty of benches here, which is appreciated as sitting on meticulously cut grass is not allowed.
As the Fountain Plaza is an office building, the plaza was literally empty outside of an office hours, but let me tell you, if I worked here I would have spent every lunch break here! Visited...
Read moreAfter taking my kids to the Perot Museum, we walked a few blocks to Fountain Place. They have a courtyard that contains a 40x40ft square of fountains that spray up from the ground. After checking for any signs requesting people stay out of the water, I let my kids play in them as it was a warm day, and we are new to Dallas (having moved down from Seattle WA). Well, after about three mins we were swarmed by three security guards, one of them rudely telling us to get out. I pulled my kids out of the fountains, and the security guards obviously watched us until we were off the premise - seriously. In Seattle it was normal for people to play in such fountains on warm days. So I guess just post some dang signs...
