First, I'm Mexican so I'm very picky about Mexican restaurants in general. I can tell you without a doubt that Meso Maya is one of the best upscale Mexican restaurant. This place is expensive but it is worth it. This was my second time in here. I visited two different locations and both locations were right on point. I ordered the Lima Soup the first time. I wasn't feeling very well and the weather was terrible cold so I needed something to comfort me. Well, let me tell you, this soup hit the spot. Have you seen the movie Ratatouille? The part where the critic eats the ratatouille and goes back to his infancy. Well, the same thing happened to me! The soup made me remember my mom's soup and the familiar sensation of eating it while I was sick. Needless to say, this soup is one of my favorite. If I've ever get sick, I know where to go to eat my "mom's soup". Yesterday, I had another staple in Mexican cousin, "enchiladas de mole". I was planning to take a picture but at the first bit I couldn't stop, they were soooo good! I kept eating and forgot to take a picture. We had ceviche as an appetizer and it was incredible! I wanted to lick the plate but of course it isn't proper ;) The elote con crema wasn't as good as it could be. I was expecting Mexican street corn but this was just not even close. However, the chocolate cake with corn ice cream was exceptional!! The hot cake mixed with the ice cream melts in your mouth and all your taste buds wake up and scream for more. It is rich in flavor so I recommend you to share it with someone else. I ate a quarter of it and it was the perfect ending to a great night. Drinks: I tried the avocado margarita. It was alright but I think I need to try it once more. It was different and the flavor wasn't bad but I need to give it another try to see if I really like it. Overall a great place to eat Mexican food. During the weekend it gets very busy, I recommend to make reservations or go during the week. This place is expensive. First time, I had the soup, tea, and dessert, during lunch time, I paid $36. Dinner time, ceviche, enchiladas de mole, carne asada, chocolate cake, bear and one margarita around $92 plus 20% tip. This place is perfect for...

We used to love Meso Maya and proudly brought friends and family here often. Unfortunately, since the pandemic, this restaurant has taken a serious nosedive in both service and hospitality.

Tonight’s experience was the final straw.

We were seated and asked twice for a high chair, yet one never arrived until we asked a second waiter—20 minutes later. We ordered drinks and an appetizer (ceviche) for my father-in-law. The drinks took about 15 minutes to arrive, and the appetizer never came—until our main dishes were served. My father-in-law had to personally walk to the manager to get it.

We ordered three more drinks mid-meal, which never arrived. We finished our food and still no drinks. I went to the bar and told the waiter to cancel them and just bring the check. Five minutes later, the manager brought the drinks—without an apology. We didn’t even touch them, but they were still charged on the bill. No effort was made to correct it.

The most frustrating part? The manager never apologized, not during the meal or as we left. I had to approach him just to express how poorly run this location has become. We’ve given this place multiple chances—at least 10 visits in the last couple of years—and each time it’s gotten worse: burnt food, delayed service, disorganized staff.

Tonight, there were at least 13 waiters on the floor, yet the place wasn’t even busy. I watched multiple staff members sitting with friends in booths instead of serving tables. Where is the management? What exactly is the manager doing to ensure quality and professionalism? From what we’ve seen, nothing.

On a previous visit, I had a reservation confirmed a month in advance. When we arrived, they had no table for us and sat us outside in the rain. Again—no apology, no solution.

This restaurant has no clear systems in place, and leadership is nonexistent. Sadly, we will never return. If you’re looking for slow service, poorly managed staff, and burnt food, Meso Maya is the perfect place to ruin...
