It has been exactly one year since I truly began my yoga journey at Yogazama, and I couldnāt be more grateful for this incredible studio. From the moment I walked through the doors, I felt welcomed into a space that radiates peace, positivity, and purpose.
First, I have to recognize Ali Haji, the owner and an absolutely incredible instructor. Ali is so intentional with his classes, and his compassion shines through every interaction. Itās evident that he genuinely loves what he does, and that passion permeates every corner of the studio. From his thoughtful cues during practice to the supportive atmosphere he cultivates, Ali creates an environment that makes every yogiāwhether beginner or advancedāfeel seen, supported, and challenged.
The studio itself is impeccably designed and maintained. For me to continue visiting any studio, cleanliness is essential, and Yogazama cleanliness is unmatched (even the shared yoga mats are always clean!). Every detail in Yogazama has been thoughtfully curated, enhancing the overall experience.
Over the last year, Iāve seen dramatic improvements in my flexibility, mindfulness, and intentional breathing. My stress levels have significantly decreased, and even my coworkers have noticed the positive changes in me. Yoga at Yogazama has not only benefited my physical well-being but has also enriched my mental and emotional health in ways I never imagined.
I am so grateful to have found Yogazama and to call it my home studio. The community, the instruction, and the care poured into this space are truly special. I look forward to many more years of growth, learning, and connection here. Thank you, Yogazama, and thank you, Ali, for creating such a remarkable sanctuary for practice...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAn excellent addition to Oak Lawn. If you are looking for a yoga studio, I recommend you try their $30 1-week trial membership and go to as many different classes as you can. They vary from beginner yoga to more core- and strength-focused yoga (quite tough tbh) to meditative practices and sound baths.
What attracts me to here is twofold: first is the variety, which I already mentioned. Whatās nice is that no matter which class you choose, the instructors are accommodating and donāt make you feel judged for not being as flexible as others (which Iām stiff as a board so I greatly appreciate that). The second is they focus on the whole person; here, itās not just moving around for 60 minutes and calling it a day. Theyāre doing it because they want you as a person to grow. And I love that!
Other things, the studio is gorgeous. The area itself is pretty big and thereās usually enough space to stretch around. They provide all the props. The only caveat is that their mats are pretty thin and can get slippery in class; I bring my own so you might want to as well.
Overall a great...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a BEAUTIFUL studio, with a wall of windows that open onto the serene scene of the tree-studded park across the street. No traffic, no hustle and bustle nearby, and on the inside is a studio equipped with pristine showers, a dressing area, and even a place to grab a spot of tea from their selection and lounge on the open deck before returning to the busier world beyond.
Currently, my favorite instructors are Bruce Pugh, with his decades of experience and solid expertise; Anthony Otero, who flaunts his highly versatile teaching styles and makes every class fun with his charismatic personality; and Melissa Spoonts, who teaches the most delicious restorative yoga class I've ever attended. However, ALL the instructors at YogaZama are wonderful, as each brings their own personal strengths to the practice and shines their own light from within to illuminate the YogaZama brand of classes in a unique way.
In short, this is a really special place with really special people, and you should try it out. I'm...
