Update(see original review below): I was contacted by Dr. Tang, the dentist owner, who acknowledged the dental staff's mistake, apologized and refunded the full cost of the tooth that was uninsured and had to pay out of pocket. He also offered to work on the remaining teeth without copay which I'm considered taking up.
Original Review: I am a new patient to this dental center and I booked a routine clean up with them and that went ok. During that appointment the dentist recommended doing some fillings on 5 teeth that had cavities and an appointment was made for a month later. A week before the day to do the fillings procedure, I got a call and it turned out that insurance would only cover 4 of the teeth and the other would be out of pocket. I said we should only work on the 4 covered by insurance and when I went in for the appointment I paid upfront for the out-of-pocket deductable for the 4 teeth. When the procedure started, the dentist(Dr. Kim) said he would try to work on as many teeth as possible within the time slot of 1.5 hours. I reminded him that there was a tooth that I had said should not be worked on. My expectation was that he should already have been informed of this. He managed to get through 3 teeth but one of the teeth was the one I had not consented to the procedure being done on it due to the failure to be covered by insurance. When we went back to the front desk they said I had to pay out of pocket for that tooth. They did not accept responsibility for the mess-up and did not offer an apology. The excuse they gave was that "the doctor thought that the tooth had a worse cavity than the others and so decided to work on it". He did not tell me this when doing the procedure and did not ask me for consent to do this.
At the very least there was a communication breakdown between the front desk and the doctor which is a sign of unprofessionalism and incompetence. The fact that they did not take even a modicum of responsibility for their mistake and all they wanted was to be paid for it, and of course since I was numb due to the procedure, I could not speak properly to protest, goes to show that they do not really care about and respect the patient(in my opinion). I would NOT recommend this place having gone...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIN COVID TIME... stay with your current Dentist. Donāt try to change. I had a very unsettling experience at Dr Tangās office this July 2020. Because my own dentist was booked full I thought a visit to his office for a simple cleaning and check up should be a simple and straightforward process. Oh NO! Not at all! I was given an appointment in 10 days or so. Happy me. Then on the day of my appointment, the staff was unable to confirm my insurance even though (1) she did call and check in my presence and was told that I do have insurance for which I mentioned repeatedly that I have DELTA DENTAL. So she tried and after 1 hour I asked to be rescheduled. I was given the day after tomorrow. (2) To be sure, I called the next day and was told that my plan is HMO which they donāt accept.(3) I have a PPO plan continuously for almost 30 years. So I worried that something was wrong about my account. I went online and printed out my PPO info. (4) I returned to Dr Tangās office and showed the proof of my insurance. A new staff tried to check it out. She couldnāt tell me where the incorrect HMO info was. Her system showed that i do have insurance but she could not directly confirm with DELTA DENTAL because they would put her on hold for hours (due to Covid time). (5) Finally she said i can have the service in 2 or 3 months. Thatās when I gave up and said good bye. So, if itās not an emergency case, stay away from this office. When I came in and said āHi, I have an 11 am appointmentā the receptionist did not even look up or answer. As I walked back to my waiting seat, I heard āWhatās your name?.ā I really feel sorry for everybody during this sad crisis Covid time. I guess unless itās an emergency letās not add to their stress and stay away until life becomes...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy family and I have been going to Dr. Tang since they've been in business. All three of my kids feel comfortable with Dr. Tang. My oldest son had occasional headaches since he was 11. We had discussions with our pediatrician and we initially thought my son was only dehydrated. However, during a routine check-up with Dr. Tang, he asked me if my son has trouble breathing or snoring during his sleep. Dr. Tang noticed my son might possibly have breathing issues because his tonsils are larger than the average person. That's when we realized that my son possibly has sleep apnea. So we immediately consulted our pediatrician and got referred to do a sleep apnea test. We then confirmed that my son has mild sleep apnea. We met with the ENT specialist (Dr. Ellison) and had his tonsils removed and also had a bilateral turbinate reduction. Since the surgery, my son has been sleeping well and hasn't had any headaches. I'm thankful for Dr. Tang for raising the flag, otherwise, my son would've been left undiagnosed and his sleep apnea, breathing, and headaches might've gotten worst.
My mom also has a lot of issues with her teeth. Dr. Tang has been very patient with her. He takes the time to explain all the procedures and options with her. Dr. Tang and his staff are also transparent and clear with pricing. If my mom doesn't understand a charge, they'll double-check with her insurance and work with my mom for payment options.
Dr. Tang is professional and reliable. I've been referring all my friends and...
