So never thought I would be writing a one star review for Bento. It is one of my favorite sushi places with great food, But today I am not upset with the food. I’m upset with the service. So I went to order a poke bowl the restaurant dine in was closed due to covid. There was no line when I arrived. I placed an order at the register and was told it was about 5-10 min wait and they would bring my food out to me. So 10 min went by, then 20, then 30, now the line was 30 people deep i couldn’t go inside to see what was going on because they wanted only one person at a time and I didn’t want people to get mad at me because I skipped them so I got back in the 30 person line and had to sit there in the hot sun for now what was 45 min total. When I was about 3 people away from going inside a store associate came out side to ask if anyone was picking up online orders. At this point I was furious. I told her what had happened and she said she was going to check on my order. She comes out with 5 bags for more customers and mine wasn’t one of those. She said that apparently there were 20 orders before mine and that they were about to start preparing it. At this point I was so mad that I requested a refund. About 5 min later she comes out with my bag and said to give her another couple min that she would refund me so I can have the food for free. At this point I’m tired of waiting hungry and I have my food. I’m not the type to start issues and whatever I got the food I’ll pay for it I did not want to wait anymore. Then I walk to my truck look in the bag and the salad that I ordered was missing. So I go back inside the store tell them I’m missing the salad that I had paid for after everything I just went through they even screwed up my order. I am in the customer service industry and own a hospitality business. I know times are tough but this is not how you operate a business. Don’t tell your customer the food is going to be ready in 10 min and then make them wait 45 min when you are 20 bowls behind. This was a customer service mistake and for this reason even though it is one of my favorite places I don’t think I’ll be going back. The employees need procedures and guidlines on how to operate and provide good customer service during hard times. My company does it and so does 95% of...
Read moreJust updated my reviews from a 5 star to a 1 sadly. I placed an online order and was told it be ready by 8:50pm, I arrive and it’s not done- all good i understand that happens & I try to be sympathetic when workers get slammed, what bothers me is after waiting for 40 mins i finally stand in line to get a refund, the cashier asks me for my name and goes to talk to the to go people we watch her walk over and the order was one of the bags on a shelf that I had noticed was there for awhile & had asked 10 mins prior about the status of my order and was told it wasn’t ready yet when it was sitting right there, yet they kept calling the same 3 names of people who weren’t there/ responding. i couldn’t read the name on it cuz it was behind the counter & the text was small. i felt really bad cuz they were swamped but there was no team work happening here. I had told 3 different people my name at this point so I’m not sure why my bag sat for so long unnoticed. Literally watched a guy walk over and stare at the very bag i learned was actually mine later. The manager at least came out and acknowledged that they were behind, apologies and said she’d help with refunds but seemed so in the weeds that she disappeared into the back. The cashier told me the manager would process my refund when they closed & I’m really hoping they make good on that promise. The food had been sitting for awhile and i was starving… i got home and the sushi roll was missing avocado & my lava bowl had maybe half of the amount of fish it usually does. What a let down from a place that I spoke so highly of. I waited a super long time and ended up with small sad room temperature sushi and a cold...
Read moreIt gets five stars because it’s the best on its niche. Pan-Asian cuisine is being popularized in South Florida thanks to this chain restaurant that makes accessible Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese and Korean favorites. College students flock here, as well as couples and people on lunch or dinner break. It’s fun to people watch here. Since you order at the counter and the food is brought to your table, I sometimes see individuals at the back tables reading a book or texting, and I find that unhurried freedom nice to have.
I had the Ginger and Scallion Chicken bento box; the clear sauce was well balanced with fresh ginger and the dish was colorful with red bell pepper strips. It had excellent flavor. I’ve also had the Korean Bulgogi, Chicken Teriyaki, and Mongolian Beefs Rice Bowl and all were good. Standard boba and milk teas with lychee and mango jellies, yum. The boba teas are ordered constantly, so sometimes they’re out of some of the tea flavors. Get there early.
One sauce I don’t recommend is the Pao Pao “creamy spicy” sauce. I ordered it on lo menu with tofu. It was too sweet and very thick. You might like it, but I didn’t.
If you’re wanting to meet with friends and be loud while you eat trendy Asian food, this is a good spot. Btw, we got there around 4:15 on Friday afternoon and parking was already starting to fill up. They do a...
