Even though the food here is amazing and the customer service is excellent. The behavior within the staff is very unprofessional. I recently got fired due to unfair conditions. For starters, the manager is very impatient and expects you to learn everything in a week. Often allows certain trainers to talk down on the new employees. I was told that I was friendly and polite to customers. But my job was in jeopardy because I had a hard time learning the menu faster than others. I agree that if you are working at a restaurant u should know what’s on the menu. But the catch is that he expects you to learn all these items in one week then calls u slow if not remembering that week. I even had one of his trainees called me slow and have temper tantrums when I ask a question about certain things at the job. She would either ignore me or tell me to figure it out. When I literally didn’t know what I was doing cuz I was still new. My manager said he would give me a second chance if I learned the menu. Fast forward and I’ve been working here for a month and I studied the menu. Finally confident to show him on my way to work. He calls me and says that he’s firing me. The manager here lacks patience and thinks everyone that works for him is going become good at the job quickly. He doesn’t realized that some ppl do learn slower than others, but he’s impatient and doesn’t realizes it. Him and my trainer constantly look down on me and it was overwhelming cuz I tried to be the best employee I could be. But I felt very low and worthless. As I said before the food is amazing . But the staff...
Read moreI will be upfront and say that this is not my first visit. Since I’ve discovered this joint about a month ago, I’ve come a few times and have never had an issue with service or special requests. I tried the Spicy Gochu Chicken in my Rice Bowl last time and really liked it.
The problem is, the chicken comes in two decently sized chunks that can’t easily be chewed in one bite. Personally, when I’m trying to eat a bowl, I don’t really want to have to dig in it and cut the chicken up in order to scoop it up with the rest of the items in the bowl.
On this visit, I asked if the chef would be kind enough to slice the chicken up into smaller chunks for me to enjoy. The very nice young lady at the counter looked back to ask him in front of me and he quickly and brashly responded with “the chicken comes in two chunks, we don’t cut it up.”
I think that if a paying customer that has been loyal to the brand/business and tips decently every time asks for such a simple request, it should be honored. I’ve visited this place so much that I had $5 to redeem this visit and it’s only been a month since I’ve come. This will not deter me from visiting in the future but it should be a request that...
Read moreTLDR: Clean, quick, and relatively good priced for multiple options of vegan pho.
Atmosphere: clean and simple counter service style restaurant. They have real silverware, but just disposable plastic cups and trays for food.
Service: The staff were nice and researched ingredients for me to confirm everything was vegan. I do wish they were more well versed on plant-based without having to show me the ingredients.
Food: Under $15 for a giant bowl of soup? Always good. This wasn't the most mind blowing pho we have had in our long experience with the Vietnamese dish, but we did appreciate the warm and slightly sweet flavors of the broth, portion of rich noodles, fresh scallions, and fresh onions. We also got the spicy curry vegan soup which was completely different and actually had a spicy kick. For anyone who likes spice, definitely try this! Overall, we both wished for more veggies: carrots, bok choy, or something, but still good solid pho.
We did also get the tofu bao buns. Vegan, they are not tasty at all. Maybe the vegetarian sauce that normally comes with it is good, but alone, bleg, would...
