I'm only writing this review because I just got off of the phone with a rude receptionist who cut me off. I've been to Om spa once before and I forgot the name of the person I had who waxed me but I know she travels back & forth from Ohio. The point is the experience was more painful than it should have been. I've been waxing for 7 years, I never shave and I've literally been praised by estheticians for having such easy hair to remove and for being such an easy & quick customer. Because my hair is so easy to remove, I hate when estheticians take a long time during an appt. like you can literally wax my whole body in under 30 minutes if you know what you're doing. however, the woman who waxed me here at Om spa went so fast without any remorse! So I said to myself "she did a decent job but I think I can find better" and haven't been to Om on months. It was just too unnecessarily painful. But I have some important engagements this weekend. So on MLK day at around 3pm, I scheduled an appointment for the following Tuesday at 10:30am. Unfortunately, I called on Tuesday to reschedule. In a rude manner, the receptionist gave me the whole spill about how I should call 24 hours ahead of time to cancel but that would have literally been impossible considering the fact that it hadn't even been 24 hours since I made the appt. Then I rescheduled my appt for Friday. I work in Dearborn, and that's the only reason why I chose to try this spa out again. Otherwise I live near grosse pointe and there are tons of spas & salons in grosse pointe so it's not necessary for me to drive 30 minutes to come here. So my work got cancelled for Friday. (I work 1 on 1 with children. If they cancel, then no work for me). So I tried explaining this to receptionist but she cut me off, asked for my name and put me on hold. Then she came back from hold, asked for my name again and told me I was all set and immediately hung up. If I wanted to know the receptionist's name just for my own records, she didn't even give me a chance to ask. If I wanted to reschedule my appt, she didn't even give me a chance to say this. She just cut me off & hung up so quickly! I worked at a hotel so I heard A LOT of stories about why people needed/wanted to cancel their reservations. And guess what I did? I listened! To each and every story! Because I'm not rude and I don't cut people off. Om, you need to get people that care about customer service and estheticians that care about people's skin. This is not how you keep business coming back. I always tip well but I can guarantee you that I will never be giving this spa a try again and you can thank your receptionist for this. The last time I came in, I even spent $150 on the jewelry there and the jewelry designer reposted my pictures on Instagram. Not only did I bring you business but I brought the stuff that you sell there business as well. But you just lost this customer. I'm not into bad...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI just want to preface this by saying Jessica provided a perfect pedicure and this in no way is critical of her. I booked my appointment Monday June 21st. When I made my appointment I made it clear that I would be bringing my 20 month old toddler with me to my appointment (she has separation anxiety). I had never been to this spa before and I haven't had trouble with her at any other time prior to this. I get to the salon this afternoon and was greeted by a very friendly and kind receptionist. When she had moment she showed me to the bathroom as well as the waiting area. From there Jessica grabbed me and my daughter and we were escorted to this tiny "pedicure room". My daughter was chatting very loudly. Jessica and I both made a point to explain to my toddler she needed to just keep it down. Jessica had mention that the hallway echoes incredibly loudly and massages take place on the other side of the wall. My daughter was not crying, screaming, throwing a fit, acting up, or anything of the sort just being a lot louder than necessary for the space. A man had peeked his head in about a quarter of the way through but didn't say anything about the noise. We go on about my appointment. randomly telling my daughter to shush periodically though out the last few minutes. One of the last times my daughter was being loud a blonde older woman peeked inside the door and say's "There are other massages going on in here. This is why you don't bring a baby to a spa." I replied twice I understand thank you. We are addressing the situation. After she walked out Jessica threw on my paint and said I need to walk around the store until my toes dry, that I couldn't stay in the room it was too loud. I do not blame Jessica. I didn't want her to have to deal with being reprimanded for keeping us to long and obliged to get to the store. I know a spa isn't a jungle gym for children with bad behavior, or a music concert. However I had taken her to many pedicure appointments where they were happy to have her accompany me. I wish I had been made aware children were not welcome or recommended to accompany parents to appointments. My intention was never to interrupt anyone else in their relaxing massages. I didn't know it would have been so awful. I paid money just as well as everyone else in there and the way I felt when I left was absolutely uncalled for and completely disrespectful. I left in tears with how uncomfortable they made me feel about this. Jessica thank you for doing such a great job, unfortunately I am not...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePrenatal Massage; Accidentally went back on my review so lost it.., BTW. BLUE LIGHT is known to be cancer causing so.. they need to change that color walking in.. to red or something else.. google it⦠so I was more detailed the first time, but simply being the masseuse talk the entire time, it was only one masseuse, Iād honestly have fathered a male because they apply the perfect pressures not too much or too little in my experience.. thereās only one toilet in the womenās bathroom, which Iām assuming the menās bathroom is made the same which makes no sense to me.. and so another woman being in the bathroom wasted time out of my massage because I had to wait on them and then she was talking about the toilet didnāt flush all the way.., but they said later it was working fine⦠I wasnāt about to go in behind the ambiguous looking woman & check.. they take me next-door to use the toilet. It was only one masseuse and it was an older woman who fell short of the pressure needed to massage me. She talked the entire massage! She pin pointed my tight areas well tho.. so she has the knowledge.. It was cool entertaining somebody else but if Iām paying 100+ dollars BE QUIET⦠SHE SHOULD KNOW BETTER..I will not be returning here. Me or my partner who was considering a couples massage also..
The snack bar was lackluster.. the cucumber lemon water was cute.. They had some dollar store lemon cookies, Cantaloupes with a couple blueberries were good but I eat organic and can taste the difference.. ⦠Some candy and some peanut butter pretzel⦠Hundreds of dollars for a massage and other services they charge but.. they ācanātā AFFORD To get some bakery items or bake some fresh cookies⦠granted they seemed like they put on their best nice face. So they came off as kind but, just.. no. I would CHOOSE SOMEWHERE ELSE. Image just to show I was there.
Nothing they couldnāt FIX but they...
