I had seen several videos and noticed all the hype about this place in my neighborhood so i decided to try it I give it a 3 stars mostly because there was no real attention to detail And the service was sparse at best our waiter brought our appetizers never returned Until he was going to take our order. Then he took our order never returned until he brought the order after he brought our food he never came back to check if we needed anything or if the food was adequate as you can see by one of the pictures I ordered the tuna tartare and that Black avocado that was clearly way past its serving date was shoved in the middle of my tuna tartae which of course made me pretty upset giving the fact that they want like $23 for it.. I would have complained that in there but it was so busy and there was a live concert outside of the restaurant. My daughter ordered the salmon she said it was delicious great presentation on her dish . I ordered the chicken avogolemo. It was supposed to be served over orzo it was not. It was served over a simple chicken fflavored rice I was very disappointed.. Our water glasses were never refilled during our entire dining experience and I would say normally this is OK but for the prices they are charging this is completely unacceptable service. Basically for a meal for 2 persons I spent a $100.. That did not include any beverage.. This was for an appetizer and a meal only.. Needless to say there was nothing that was super stellar so stellar so I probably would not return. Oh and we ordered the flamingi saganaki cheese. Advertised as being flaming but just brought to us on a simple frying Pan . no flame in sight.. very...
Read moreBitterly dissatisfied. I ordered the ribeye. I was so excited to eat a good meal, and it quickly turned to disappointment. It was ordered medium well yet I was cutting off large chunks of uncooked fat. The areas of the steak that were cooked were gray and dry, indicating that the steak was either not cooked right, or old. I tried to eat around the fat and swallow the dry pieces of steak. Until I cut into an oozing vein. Yes, the vein was oozing blood. I was disgusted. I told the server (well, my mom did because I don't like complaining). The server took it to the chef and came back and said: there's nothing he can do because in a steak that big they can't cook it through to make sure the blood is dry (I'm paraphrasing). And the fact that I had eaten about 30% of the steak (he said I ate half but clearly there was 3 oz of raw fat on the plate that I had cut off, check pics), there was nothing to be done. So as a chef, you don't know how to render fat on a steak, can't cook the blood out, and somehow it was still dry? I know there aren't many places around that serves halal steaks, but I'm not oblivious to what is expected from a $60 steak. I was willing and excited to pay 60$ because I wanted so badly to have a nice meal. I will have forgotten about this horrible experience by the morning, which is why I'm writing this review now, but I expected more. I was not expecting to leave disappointed beyond comprehension. I wouldn't say for the life of me that this place has a chef, merely some guys playing kitchen. Can't render fat?...
Read moreThe food is tasty and portion sizes are very good.
The one thing we we're very disappointed about was that on the TWO occasions we visited Modern Greek, we told them that we have a gluten allergy at our table, and they would proceed to tell us that "absolutely nothing" on their menu is gluten-free. We found this to be very odd because they have steaks, fish, salads, etc on their menu, but apparently all of the waiting staff believes that not one thing is gluten-free. You do not need to work in the restaurant industry to know that gluten is found in wheat/rye/barley, so there is not gluten in meats, vegetables, etc... Sadly, my wife (gluten-free) did not want to take the risk of ordering anything except the fattoush, and the waiting staff did not even want to make any effort to help figure something out for her. This lead us to believe that either: A - they do not want to make any effort to try and customize even one food option to be made gluten-free, or B - they truly do not even know what gluten is or care to know what it is so they just tell everyone "everything on their menu has gluten in it". Either way, we felt like there was no effort being made into making sure that all of their customers can have a nice experience. Hoping that management will see this review so that their future customers with allergies can be offered even just a handful of choices at...
