I never thought I would get married. Frankly, I barely thought I would make it past 29 years old. But, I met an incredible woman, who did more than take my breath away, she puts up with all my craziness.
So when it came to finding an engagement ring for the love of my life, I was scared that nothing existed in my price range. Of course I wanted to get her something that did not exist on anyone else's hand. In fact, if I could have traveled to Mars to find the stone, I would have been on the first flight alongside Elon Musk.
After calling and stopping in 3 different jewelry stores from Atlanta to London, I realized that most of these shops could care less about my business. And all of them did not want to customize a ring within my budget (under $10k)
Bret was recommended to me by a friend who was recently remarried. Her husband went there and got a stunning ring for her, and I decided (with about 2.5 months left before popping the question) that I had to "shop local" to truly get what I wanted.
When I first walked in, I wasn't sure if he was once a BIG store that recently had a huge sale and everything was sold out, or if he was just a one man shop. Turns out, Bret works on his own and he has owned the building for years. So he is not going anywhere.
We explored some ideas together, he took a lot of time helping me decide how to craft something special.
After returning a week later with a deposit, the ring began to take shape. We finally settled on a setting (that's to an audible that my lady gave me about 1 month before the big surprise) and on schedule and UNDER budget, Bret gave me an engagement ring that speaks volumes and will truly last a lifetime. I could not have done this without him.
He was patient, curated everything to my needs (her needs) and he informed me every step of the way (he actually called and emailed and followed up with me since our first interaction).
Sure there are some big shops out there that can probably save you a few hundred bucks. But I know that Bret took care of me and my future wife. And for that, he deserves my raving review. Thank you...
Read moreThis was the WORST customer service I have EVER experienced. Today was the day after I became engaged. My fiance and I were delighted to find a local jeweler who claimed to specialize in bridal rings and drove right over. We had a lovely antique diamond and platinum ring from England that has been in his family for 100+ years that we needed to be sized larger. So we walked in and were the only customers. The owner/employee barely looked up and never even greeted us! So I greeted him. I told him we had just gotten engaged and needed to have a family heirloom sized as my engagement ring. His response to our engagement announcement was a scowl and an utterance like "Uh". Then he took the ring, looked at it like it was covered in poop, and abruptly announced "no. Can't be done. There's nothing I can do. There's nothing anyone can do." I was so shocked and upset by his indifference, rudeness, and inaccurate information that I left in tears and stunned silent. Thank goodness we went to the professionals at Jewelry Artisans who were not only welcoming and congratulatory, but also knowledgeable enough to know that all it needed was a new shank that only cost $500. I would never set foot in that store again, and if you are a bride-to-be DO NOT go there and let this rude man rain on your parade. Just look at his other responses to bad reviews. He reallyshows his...
Read moreWedding planning has been stressful, but this was the easiest and friendliest part so far. My fiancee had discovered this place while trying to get information about an engagement ring last year. Brett talked him through options, was very honest, and super helpful.
So of course as we were searching for a place to purchase a wedding band, Decatur City Jewelers was our first choice. Brett gave us an honest perspective on what would be the best choice for my engagement ring. We were looking at a couple bands, and then he said he had a cool one in the back and came out with the perfect ring. He gave us a great price and it was literally such a simple process. He also cleaned my engagement ring and told us more about the history of the ring. It was so cool.
And then my fiancee needed his grandfather's wedding band sized to his finger. Brett let us watch the whole process which was super interesting! He was honest about this process and what could happen, and it did end up breaking. However, Brett got in there and fixed it right up. You can't even tell! It looks perfect and even fits his hard-to-size finger.
I am so happy we came here instead of some chain jewelry store. I didn't feel like I was being tricked or scammed here. It was a friendly environment. It is obvious that Brett knows what he's doing and he was kind and informative throughout...
