My friend and I went recently to get a regular pedicure. I had been a couple times before and it was my friends first time. We both asked for a regular pedicure ($40), with no polish, and instead of the time spent on polish asked if they can spend a little extra time on the leg massage. The service itself wasn’t exceptional, but what was very surprising is when they rang us up at the end they charged us $55. They said extra time for a massage = $15. We spoke with the women and expressed that we felt that was very misleading and wished they had been upfront and told us when we asked it would be an extra charge. Her response was that it was on us to ask and as she was in a rush to close up the shop and leave, she reached for my card and swiped. I spoke to the manager, Angela, the next day who also said it was my fault for not asking. I’ve never experienced such bad service and feel very misled. While $15 is not the end of the world, it does not feel good to feel taken advantage of. I will not be returning and recommend anyone reading this go elsewhere (there was another salon my friend and I went to nearby on central st in the highlands that we thought was much better).
Angela - if you are reading this as I said on the phone, please be more forthcoming with your customers in the future and add this service/price you quoted us to your official services menu. It is the right thing to do by your customers and as an honest small...
Read moreI got a fungal infection from Nail Story.
I wouldn’t recommend this salon. In 2024 I went to this salon a handful of times due to the convenience of living close by. They do an okay job for the price, not super hygienic, and every time I went in for a pedicure I would always notice how aggressive and fast the various technicians were during the toenail care and foot exfoliation part.
Regardless, I came in for my last appointment with them near the end of Summer 2024, and it was in that appointment where the technician stabbed me on my big toe when cleaning my cuticle. It was half way up the right side of my toe and the tool she used went underneath the nail, punctured the nail bed, and caused me to bleed.
Fast forward to today and that exact part of my toenail lifted and died due to the fungal infection I contracted from this incident. I have been dealing with this issue for months - I had to see a podiatrist and was prescribed a topical anti fungal medication that I have to put on DAILY.
Long story short: this salon is not worth it, accident or not, in all my years getting pedicures I have never experienced being stabbed underneath my toenail by a technician until this salon. I honestly think that this happened because of how aggressive, fast, and most importantly, careless the technician was. I also must put some blame on myself for choosing convenience over sanitation, and accept that I ignored this salon’s...
Read moreA friend booked us pedicure appointments here at Nail Story. It’s a cute little nail salon. Although parking is a bit tricky, it’s manageable. Cleanliness was great but their customer service was abrupt and rude. They made a huge deal about arriving on time because of how busy they were and yet we were the only customers in the salon. We brushed that initial interaction off but the massage was agonizingly painful. I repeatedly told the nail tech to not rub and hit so hard. Deep tissue massage on the shin bones and hammering on the ankle bones was painful and unpleasant. Really uncomfortable. Arguably the most miserable pedicure experience. The nail techs were noisy and gossipy. It felt unprofessional as though we were there to serve them. One of the nail techs kept taking my purse and relocating it, even after I ask her to not touch my things. It was a strange experience. We won’t be back. Cleanliness and paint job on our toes was good but everything else really colored our opinion...
