Walking in, we were pretty confused as to what we should do. There was an electronic order station as well as a person, people were seated to the right and left, and there was a flurry of workers in the walkway preparing to go orders. I noticed that the ladies seated to the right had menus at their table, so I asked if we were to order there at the stand and then sit, to which I was told that was correct. So this is not a sit down and order type of place, although they do serve your food when it is ready, which was very rapid. There is not a beverage menu readily available, I only saw one when I asked what they had. We ordered two appetizers (a pork bun and poke wrap), a ramen bowl, two soups and three drinks (a ramune, a sapporo, and a saki cocktail - aka wine cooler) and the bill was over $60. A bit pricey I think. (the pork bun comes served as one, and for having Poke in the name, the fish was not the quality it should have been) The ramen left a bit much to be desired IMO, but wasn't bad. Of all the ramen places I've been, this was my least favorite and...
Read moreThis was about a year ago now; I went in and got a Poke Bowl with raw salmon in it. I ate it; it was great.
Then about an hour or two later I started to feel sick. 3 hours later I started puking, and puked twice that night. (Friday night.) I felt on-and-off sick again on Saturday and Sunday.
On Monday night I felt deathly ill, and drove myself to the emergency room. They didn't do anything useful (as is normal for medical practice); they gave me an IV drip, did some tests which returned nothing, and injected me with some painkillers which made me feel better for an hour, sent me home and charged me $3k.
But yeah, I got an intestinal parasite from that Salmon for sure; I was getting cramps and having watery diarrhea for 10 days straight before my body finally killed off the parasites and my digestive system returned to normal.
I will never eat here again. Be careful eating...
Read moreWe stopped by on a whim, we’re still new to Denver and we’re sussing out the local ramen offerings because we’re those weebs. Menya has a wonderful little atmosphere to it. It’s quaint and offers small tables for two as well as bar seating. I tired the Menya ramen and my husband tried the traditional tonkatsu. Mine was tasty but the broth was missing something and the spinach leaf over powered the ramen. We are also surprised to find our tamago had been chilled so the yolk was still cold when you bit into it.
While the ramen wasn’t exactly what we were looking for, the open faced boa buns were stunningly good, and the seaweed salad was an incredible mix of flavors. I’m not even a fan of seaweed salad but I would have easily ordered more of it. And those buns. I plan to return, I’d like very much to try their poke bowls after having tried the...
