Update 2: what started as a four star review has been reduced down to one. Go to Blue Sparrow instead!!! I don’t understand why they let their staff act like a high school clique but they certainly lean into the vibe. Honestly good for them, just not for me.
On the weekends, the staff is downright confrontational, they don’t order any pastries, and they treat you like you should be on your knees for them to serve you a bad coffee. It’s really embarrassingly bad, their service. Go to Starbucks, or blue sparrow, or literally anywhere else if you can. But I hate to admit that their chocolate croissants are some of the best in the neighborhood… only if you can get your hands on one. There’s no shot on the weekend after 9 AM, or weekdays after 10. I’ve heard the owner is nice and gets his haircut at Rosemont. I hope that he reads this and extended the same courtesy to his patrons. It’s frustrating living directly above from them and walking in every morning wondering if they have what you want in stock or if they will even serve it to you based on how the teenagers are feeling that day. I would avoid it all costs for cocktails, they really suck.
Update: had to bump from three stars to two. Generally run out of pastries and cold brew on weekend mornings by 10:00am. The staff’s attitude has not improved. There are better places in the neighborhood to get overpriced coffee.
Nice that dogs are allowed, but generally mediocre cocktails and slow service. Coffee is also disappointing.
None of the furniture matches and you end up at tables where some of the chairs are way too high and others way too low. It’s like it’s all been sourced from a thrift store.
At this price point I expect a more service-minded attitude, not laid-back hipsters working at their own pace.
Disappointing, live in the building and really wanted this to be great. The neighborhood needs more than lackluster overpriced cocktails, I hope they iterate...
Read moreStopped by this café with a buddy for some hot chocolate, and I have to say—it was love at first sip. The hot chocolate was perfectly light, smooth, and served at just the right temperature straight from frothing. Bonus points for the delicate design on top, which wasn’t just a treat for the taste buds but a feast for the eyes. It’s little details like this that elevate the whole experience.
The space itself feels like stepping into a time capsule of "old money" charm, with cozy furniture and vintage-inspired walls that somehow pull off a modern twist. It’s the kind of spot where you’d expect a Duke or Duchess to sip their morning brew (if they rode the bus). Speaking of which, the location is incredibly convenient—right across from Commons Park and attached to transit, making it the perfect midday pick-me-up spot.
That said, parking in the area can be a bit tricky. Be prepared to spend some time driving around hunting for a spot. Thankfully, the two-hour enforced parking limit means there’s a decent turnover rate. With parking enforcement officers diligently scanning plates and writing citations, your patience will likely be rewarded sooner rather than later.
Cleanliness? Great. And for those who love a good selfie moment, you’re in luck—the mirrors are perfectly placed to capture the café’s cozy vibe (and your latte art). The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, making thoughtful recommendations that showed they really know their craft.
The only thing missing? A little extra lighting. While the sunlight and mirrors work their magic during the day, a few lamps or soft ambient lighting would take the atmosphere up a notch, especially during overcast afternoons.
Overall, a delightful stop that hits the mark on charm, flavor, and convenience. I’ll definitely be back to try their cocktails and food menu—if the hot chocolate is this good, I can’t wait to see what else they have up...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of being served by Chase at a local upscale bar, and let me tell you, the experience was nothing short of unforgettable. From the moment I walked in, Chase greeted me with a warm, genuine smile and immediately made me feel at home. I was in the mood for something bold, so I ordered an espresso martini. Chase didn’t just serve me a drink — he crafted a masterpiece. The espresso was perfectly balanced, the martini rich and smooth, and it was clear that Chase took pride in his craft. It was the kind of drink that made you savor every sip.
But the real kicker? After chatting for a bit, he casually mentioned that his Lamborghini was parked out front. One thing led to another, and before I knew it, Chase was offering me the keys for a spin around town. Yes, you read that right — this generous bartender actually lent me his Lamborghini for the evening. It was surreal. A little bit of high-octane luxury and hospitality mixed into one.
Chase isn’t just a bartender; he’s an experience. It’s rare to come across someone who so effortlessly combines top-tier bartending skills with genuine kindness and an unassuming cool factor. If you’re ever at this bar, do yourself a favor and sit at his station. Who knows? You might just get treated to a...
