I know the staff at Broadstone are not going to be happy with me, but i want to detail what has happened so far living here for about a month and a half.
Our move-in was extremely disorganized, from the moment we started even talking about a lease. Our apartment was moved around a few times and communication was bad all around. We had to e-sign a bunch of paperwork multiple times and the website to do the lease through is horrible and unusable. On our move in day it seemed like no one knew what was going on. They didn't have a sign on the elevator we were locking for the move in, they didn't have our keys ready, they didn't give us the 2 door fobs until we asked, and they only gave 1 mail key. Also they made me give them my ID to use their dolly which was super rude (they know where I live).
We later tried our mail key and it didn't work. When we asked about it we found out that they never moved the mailbox when they switched our apartment, so the key they gave us was supposedly to a different box. We tried the key later on that box and it still didn't work. After pressing them for over a week, them being rude on every call, they finally had the mailbox re-keyed. The staff made this issue super low priority even though it is a federal crime to impede the delivery of mail. We were selling our house and expecting paperwork we were unable to get that whole time.
After this, one of the elevators broke and was down for about a week. This might not seem like a big deal until you realize these are already the slowest elevators in the world.
About a week later there was a big gas leak on our floor, directly across from our apartment. When we got home we immediately called Xcel because the smell was so strong. Later we found out they had already fixed this gas leak, and a bunch of gas seemingly settled in our apartment. They were very sure that there was not enough gas to ignite, so it was not a problem according to them. We had the windows open for over an hour before Xcel arrived and there was still measurable gas in the hall and our apartment. Some earlier communication would have been nice, maybe a note.
Next we got our first bill, posted to our door with a $200 fee on it and a demand for rent. Turns out the first month living here they wont send you anything when rent is due. Since there were a bunch of concessions and the portal sucks so much we were expecting an itemized bill, so we hadn't paid yet. Apparently we were 1 day past our "grace period". I immediately paid the bill online, and asked if they could forgive the fee since we were expecting to get a bill. on top of that we were only 1 day late and had dealt with a ton of bullshit in a matter of 2-3 weeks. Nope.
All the while we had been seeing a few apartments with valet trash left outside. We assumed it was an opt-in thing and that's why we didn't have it, until we got Decembers bill. That's right, apparently they DO normally send bills! Aside from all that is wrong with the bill we learned we had been paying for valet trash since we moved in and they never gave us a can!! Well, again we asked about it, and again they were very rude. We asked to get that money back since we didn't get a can, and the told us it's not something we can opt-out of because it's for the cleanliness of the complex... what a weird way to dodge that question. To this day we still have not got our valet trash can even though we have asked about it multiple times.
Aside from all of this, the 6th floor outdoor space is ONLY for people who live up there. Getting packages is impossible if you work normal hours, you will have to wait until the weekend to pick them up. The bowling alley sucks and is locked unless you request access ahead of time. The cafe coffee is always either empty or there are no sugars or creamers or anything out. The buzzer out front does nothing, so if you get food delivery, or have people over you have to go out to let them in. Piss alley.
TL;DR Staff sucks and are extremely disorganized and rude. Don't hold themselves to the same standard they will...
Read moreIf you don't want to read this whole thing, and are just looking for the cliffs notes version, here it is: DO NOT MOVE HERE! Positives - The vibe of living right next to Coors Field, especially during baseball season, is hard to beat. Negatives (sorry for the extremely long list): -No Service Elevator. When we looked we were told they have a service elevator. Imagine our surprise to learn they do not. Not a big deal, you say? Well, imagine the slowest elevators in the world. Now, picture one of them constantly out of service when someone is moving in, or as you will see now, moving OUT. Good luck. At least if you are trying to catch up on social media, you will have plenty of time as you wait for an elevator. -Slow Elevators. See above comments. Slow elevators=more time for social media. -Parking. We had two vehicles. The first parking fee is inexpensive. But they will take all your money with the second spot. And my thinking was, well, at least it is a secured parking garage and only residents park there. Wrong. They made us jump through hoops to obtain a special parking pass and made it clear that vehicles without the magic sticker would be towed. Wrong again. No one was towed, no one had a sticker. As a test, I parked my mother-in-laws vehicle down there for a week. All day, every day. And it was still there at the end of the week. No note. I talked to the leasing office about this a few months ago and they said there was an issue with them not tracking vehicles that were permitted to be there. (I hope by this point, you are sensing a trend). -Package Notification. My husband lost his debit card. He ordered a new one and paid extra to have it rushed to us. After 2 weeks, he called our bank to find out why we hadn't received it yet. It had been delivered a week ago to the leasing office. Apparently their system was down or their internet was down (they gave two different excuses) and they do not realize that their notifications don't go out until "we start to receive complaints." Seriously??? -Dog Run. They tell you they have a dog run when you look at the place. It is a small faux grass platform in the back alley. There is no gate on the dog run and it smells horrible all the time. Even my dogs wouldn't use it. -Frat House. If you are looking to relive your college days, this is the place for you. When we first moved in, people would let their dogs crap in the elevators and then leave it. They were using the parking garages as dog run areas so they always smelled. Lately, someone thinks it is funny to keep writing messages in the elevator. There are always beer cans left in there. Spit and other bodily fluids have been found. And last but not least, someone ripped the elevator panel out and that elevator was down for a month. -Maintenance. My light bulbs went out. I put in a maintenance request. Three weeks later I received notification they were fixed. They weren't. And I received a "review our service" email. So I did. Then another light bulb went out. It took over a month and me complaining several times for them to be fixed. And we were not allowed to fix them ourselves as it was a liability. -Noise. They did a GREAT job of insulating between you and the outside. We were on the Rockies side of the building and with the door shut, it was silent. However, they did NOT insulate between apartments. The guy above me is loud. I spoke with the leasing office about it and they did nothing. Even doing simple things, like walking, is loud. I had to modify my behaviors so that I wasn't annoying the people below me. -Bowling Alley. Broken all the time and $500 deposit to use. -Free Yoga. Mentioned in tour, never happened. -Coffee Station. Always out of something. -Final Bill. They are charging me $42 for my final water bill. That is almost the same total as my water has been for the past year. -Leasing Staff. If you want to deal with some of the least knowledgeable or helpful people ever, then move here. For $2200/month (after fees, including valet trash, which is NOT optional), I...
Read moreDO NOT MOVE HERE I moved here after viewing the complex over zoom because I was moving across the country and I wish I never stepped foot in this place. Starting with my move in process, James is the rudest apartment manager I had ever met. When we arrived in Denver after driving for three days he shows me my new apartment that was completely dirty. Puke in the upstairs carpet, disgusting floors, a NON WORKING toilet (that had not been cleaned) gross counter tops and a washing machine filled with puke and dog hair. When I asked him about this he shrugged his shoulders and said “COVID”. There was also a bullet hole in the sink that had been fixed with spray paint. As we were unloading from the loading dock James decided to remind us every ten minutes that we needed to hurry up and finish because he was off the clock at 6. Now that I’m living in the apartment I start feeling very sick. I went to the doctor and was told to check for mold in my room. When I open my AC filter there was mold caked throughout the unit. I told maintenance of this and they sprayed it with bleach and nothing else. I was not asked if I needed anything or wanted to move to a new apartment. About a month later I have friends come to visit and my AC stops working in the middle of June, when I told James he blamed me and said I broke the unit from freezing the pipes. When they had some one come out to look and fix it, it was discovered that it was not my fault and something was broken on the roof. My clicker to the garage stopped working and when I went to James to get a new one he looked at it gave it back to me and said “you’re not hitting it hard enough”. Again blaming me for something that wasn’t my fault. I finally move to a new unit thinking everything would be better and it was not. Toilet again did not work, another gross washing machine and barely any water pressure. I asked twice for it to be fixed and it wasn’t fixed until I had Nick (general manager) get involved. Then our heat in December stopped working and AGAIN James blamed me for breaking it when it was something out of my control. We moved into this unit in October and it is now January, the whole time one of the elevators have been down with no fix in site. We also received an email from James that we did not set up electricity for September and we were going to be charged $50 for not having it. When we told him we didn’t move in until October we received no response back and were still charged for it. This was our last straw. We went to their parent company (Simpson Housing) and told them about everything and we were just passed off back to Nick. We asked to move out and didn’t think that it was fair to have to pay the lease break after everything we have gone through and now we are receiving snarky emails from James saying we still have to pay two months of rent. They do not care about their residents here just about collecting your money. Good luck if you choose to move here.
By the way, they give you a possible free month rent if you leave a...
