I had a choice between 2 shops to go to. I went to tri state because they had a nice shop and trusted them to know there buisness and assist me in getting exactly what i wanted. Since im 47 and not exactly up to date on all the latest technology i relied on them to set me up. I went in and told them i wanted a nice stereo and speakers that was compatable with droid phones. So i was sold a jensen stereo rockford speakers and a HD attenna that was suppose to pick up more stations then i can imagine. I wanted to add a amp and subs if all went well with this. Install was nice and clean and looked good but the stereo got 2 stations 94.7 and MD public radio. (The HD attenna cost me approx. 150 dollars) When i plugged in the usb it just loaded for bout 10 min then nothing. So when i returned it for repairs ( cause mistakes happen) i was told the attenna was defective so they had to replace it. I was also told that the usb was just for flash drive and ipods that it didnt work for phones. So as i trusted them i let them take truck in back to replace attenna and i would except the usb answer. When i got truck back the attenna was moved from behind mirror to windshield by drivers door. Ok i thought longs as it works then antenna kept falling off and i noticed there was adhesive still stuck to glass by mirror and the adhesive on back of antenna itself was rough and not sticking to glass so my conclusion was they did not replace like they said they just moved it.( in my mind lie number one) At this point my over priced antenna was still getting same two stations. Then two make matters worse another phone got plugged in to my stereo by usb and yep you guessed it. It fully loaded right away all there music files came up song artist and cd artwork right there on my radio after i was told it did not work that way ( lie number 2 in my eyes) So i started asking questions and checking into things now that im getting the picture that maybe i was misled. Come to find out it was for droid phones about 5 yrs ago. Yes they sold me old technology i have a galaxy 7 and the stereo runs off of gingerbread system if you understand that stuff. I relied on them to match me up and i told them as much. When i went back in again for antenna and disappointment in stereo itself they tried to tell me the other stereos were not in. (Once again i call BS cause the day i was there setting appt for install they were putting in the new kenwoods in the display and i was checking them out so BS) So now they are ordering a whole new antenna set up cause they can still not get it to work properly. I was also told by another source it may be the stereo not the antenna. I was also told if i wanted to pay another 200 they would exchange it for the kenwood. I really didnt feel like i should pay more to get what i wanted initially and having to deal with the crap but i was willing to pay to just get what i wanted then move on but i could not even get sombody to connect the phone to the stereos so i could be sure i was getting what i wanted. So i cut my losses and just made appt for next sat to have new antenna installed. At this point if it still dont work and its still the stereo it is there problem to figure out since they have already been paid in full. And since i am not some young kid they can just BS and get over on if i still have issues they can just deal with my lawyers and we can file a complaint with the Better Buisness Bereau. Now if if they would rather go that route more power to them. But like i said mistakes happen and i will give them a fourth chance this saturday to resolve the problems and i will report results back here good or bad. I also like to leave on a good note so speakers sounded nice. Talk to yall next...
Read moreIt took me about a year of research and I feel the sound of tri state gave me the sound system I have always wanted since I was a kid. I bought an 15 wrangler willeys last year. I didn't get the stereo upgrade because I knew I would be replacing it. After much research I came across a blog from Audio Chick near Boston and her shop specializes in custom jeep systems. Her recommendactions were my starting point. I asked for and received an estimate. I had every intention of driving it to Boston dropping it off renting a car and going back the next week to pick it up. By chance my neighbor had just had some stereo work done on Kirkwood Hwy and raved about them, except for the fact he was rear ended upon departing the store and his car was totaled, but that's another story. Anyhow I decided to take the estimate from audio chick and see what they could do. Diego, at the kirkwood store took his time and spec'd out everything: Panasonic 8200nex receiver, Sirius radio, Kenwood back up camera, Focal components in front, Focal coaxials in sound bar. A JL 150x4 amp for speakers and a JL 750w amp for 12" 600w subwoofer in a custom box , because I have limited space in 2dr wrangler. Plus 4ga wire, plenty of hush mat in Doors and sound bar. I also got a viper alarm and remote start, what the hell ! Let me tell you Diego's excitement for what we put together was infectious. It could be for the amount of coin I just dropped, but I don't think so. This system rocks !!! I have a work Truck and only get to take my jeep out on weekends. I can only tell you I look forward to every weekend just to drive the Jeep. The sound quality is rich, warm, crisp, and the sub punches when and where you want it. I have a control knob on front of console. These guys went beyond. They put extra mp3/iPad connection in glove box besides wiring into factory location in console. The custom subwoofer box even has the jeep headlight/grill logo on top of the box. I was floored the tech went so far to please me. Out F'n standing !!!. I also had steering wheel controls and lost none of my phone/recever functionality. They hid the microphone for calls, and my camera comes on when in reverse. I can Bluetooth songs from my Android phone. I don't know what else to say except when I buy something this expensive I usually have buyers remorse immediately. Not in this case though, I am amazed out how such quality equipment can make you notice intruements that were never there before and by default make songs you have listened to for a lifetime sound brand new. So in closing I strongly recommend Diego, the sound of Tri state unfortunately the guy behind the scenes, my installation tech. I don't remember his name but he has a wrangler too and promised a quality install and far exceeded my expectations. The tech, although he doesn't know it yet is going to get a nice tip or a gift card for dinner as soon as I can get back by. I own 2 small businesses and know how hard it is to please people because everyone has different expectations. Tri state this is my first exposure to your business and I am now a lifetime customer.

Read moreLast February 14,2017 I had my VSK100 (Bluetooth Key) installed on my existing SmartStart System at Sound of Tri-State, Dover. The Technician also swapped an old VSM250 with a new DSM350. The installation went good. A minor glitch I noticed was the dashboard panel wasn't re-installed right after the electrical work. So, I had to wait for the Technician to come back from lunch and have it corrected. When I was on the highway, I noticed that my telescopic steering wheel were adjusted, probably just to get a better access on the electricals underneath the dashboard. I clicked the hazard light and stopped on the highway shoulder only to realizethat the Hazard Light wasn't working. I was in the middle of an interstate with no exits and also will be late to pick up my kids after school at the time, so I figured to just give them a call as soon as I reached home and tell them about the problem. I manage to remember it 2-3 days after the installation and I called SOT, Dover, Nick Garcia. I told him the problem about the Hazard Light being not working after the installation. He said that the Technician was out for a break and would call me back that day. I never got a phone call and didn't even bother them since my car would be due for an Oil Change anyway and I could find out if it's the swith problem or something busted. Today, 03/07/2017 I went to the Toyota dealership fo my Toyota Sienna LE 2013 and ask them to check what was wrong with the Hazard Light, after all the services has been done Toyota told me it's a "LOOSE CONNECTION AT SWITCH". I was charged for $112 with $11.20 discount for just plugging back on the switch. Toyota mentioned they can see there recent works on the electricals and knocked loose the Hazard Light switch.
Two things: First ,when the work is done all the electricals should been checked as working before handing it back to the unsuspecting owner. Second, when I called to complain about the hazard light, I was made to believe that Nick ( SOT, Dover) wouldvall me back to sort out the problem. Third, I had to pay $100.80 (with discount) just to find that the swicth was knocked loose. The products that were installed primarily was working fine though, in fairness to the technician. I hope this could be corrected and won't happen again to anyone of your loyal...
