King Buffet — Restaurant in Dover

It was excellent today 8/2/25. Keep up the good work—big improvement. The crabs were delicious so were the ribs and corn and the meat was very tender. Before this review, I left the review saying how I felt it could be a big improvement on the food and the service, and how a waitress, went around saying how much she wanted for a tip. Instead of five dollars, she wanted $10, this and that and it was downgrading for a while they have gotten better service has gotten better for today. I noticed a change in attitude because of the last review I had written about their quality of food, not being changed and food being out there all day and left over. Now today. 8/6/25, I just got a check for $46 for two seniors, It’s normally $40. Now as of today, August 6, 2025, I have decided not to ever go back in there again due to the fact, my husband & I were being retaliated against, because we voiced our opinion. On the quality of food. I was told distinctly today by the manager, that from now on instead of all you can eat buffet that we would be charged for an extra for every dish of seafood that we eat now I’d like to know how can you have a place All You Can Eat and that’s not all you can eat, and that we would be charged more if we wanted more seafood this has never happened before out of the 8 years of our lives, we’ve been going their. It is supposed to be all you can eat. It says it on the advertisement. I decided not to go back in there because they make their prices up as they go and it’s not an all-you-can-eat buffet it's how much you eat buffet and if you eat a lot of seafood you’re gonna pay for an extra plate of seafood so don’t worry about my service anymore. I won’t be coming back in there and you have a good life. I’ve been coming in there for over eight years and never have. I’ve been so disgusted and humiliated with the service that my husband and I got and I know you know who I am and I don’t care. I tried to backlash on what was going on in there and explain myself, but I guess you don’t want anybody to criticize you, especially when they try to tell you you're doing something wrong and you’re about to lose a lot of business. I call this retaliation. Because I wrote a review. On what was going on two weeks ago.. But I rebutted on it and now I wish I had never because I only told the truth. My husband is a retired vet. He served in the Vietnam War as a Marine. I am also retired. I paid my dues to this country also. There is no way we should have to be subjected to not only retaliation because we commented on the quality of food, but we were also told that it would be much better appreciated. If we had parked in the back of the restaurant where there was a bigger space my husband has a handicap sticker, he told her distinctly that he was not parking in the back of the building, the things you have to go through and they say it’s not about race, but it is. And don’t let them say my friend because you’re not their friend you say anything bad about their service You think there’s a problem because you know who I am I don’t care, the first thing I was asked when I walked in there was Why did you write a review like that? Little, do you know there are other complaints besides mine no one just had the balls enough to write about it. I should’ve written this place up eight years ago when I found a cooked fly in my food. My husband and I were the first to tell her that she should start serving fried crabs and that is how this came about. Let you know the devil is working his hardest and God doesn’t like ugly. Money is the root of all evil and he knows what you are doing. You treat people how you wanna be treated. The cameras are only in there to see if you’re gonna put something in your pocket or take something out. My pastor won’t even eat there anymore. To think you’d be trying to look out for someone outside that has no way of eating you rather than call the police on them. You think this is not observed. Updated When you're in the mood for a specific food item you go to where they cant get it wrong. Right? In this case Orange Chicken. My go to meal. I didn't have time to sit & eat so I ordered to go. The reception was good and the wait wasnt terribly long. I breifly checked out the dish, thanked them and left. At the office as I ate it and immediately felt an unknown anger over come me. I've never been angry at food before! #DeepBreaths... I later found out from the manager Maggie (awesome manager, "the most awesome manager ever", said in Trump's voice) that they were trying a new cook out. There was no orange sauce, very watery, the color was off, chicken hard, and it had large cuts of Orange pilling. It was comical... so I'm not sure why I was angry? Right? Anyway, i called and was asked to come back in. Maggie (the awesome manager of 21 yrs) graciously handled the issue. She apologized while I was there and provided a refund. This buffet could be so much more with proper training. I doubt any Servesafe certificate is valid there. The buffet had a good selection of food, (and random supplies kept in unused sections of old hot bars) but NONE of it was kept at a safe temperature, rotated, or even replenished with expediency. In the hour I was there for instance, the lettuce for a salad was mostly a bin of water with a few leaves for the ENTIRE visit. Who knows how long it was like such before my arrival or after my leave? All of the hot food I dared, was luke warm at best. A simple invitation for food borne illness. I was lucky. The desert? I chose ice-cream as the petition four selection looked drier than a week old unused sponge. I was shocked that this buffet did not have single size serving cups such as a cafeteria line would have. Large 3 or 5 gallon size bins of only 3 flavor choices ( listed flavors were substantially more) that any one would scoop for them selves. Think of how unsanitary that is. Gross.
