stayed in the residence inn may 27-may30. walked in the room and it had a foul odor. made a complaint but there was no resolve or an offer to change our room. we requested clean sheets because they too smelled foul. the next day we enjoyed the free breakfast. unfortunately, after being out all day, we returned to the same foul odor in the room for the second night. after complaining someone came to access the complaint, but said he could not spray while we were in the room. still no resolve or offer to change our room. after reading posted literature we decided to take a swim in the pool (as it was listed to be open 24 hrs) to find no access. the front desk clerk (lisa) told us she'd never seen the literature that i brought to show her from our room, offered excuses and a poor explanation as to why the pool was closed at 10:00 pm. the next morning we attempted to go in the hot tub and now it was not working. sigh. after being out of the room another full day, returning at aprox. 9:15 pm, the foul odor met us at the door for the third night in a row. after going to the front desk and lodging yet another complaint and request to fix the problem we were told yet again by (lisa) that someone would be down to take care of it. after waiting one and a half hour we went down to first, check the pool (which was totally crowded after the 10:00 hour) and second, to check what time the guy would be coming to solve or at least tend to the odor. unfortunately for us, we were met with more excuses and passing the buck , but this time an assurance that she (lisa) would not drop the ball again and would follow up with this matter herself. being totally frustrated with speaking to lisa and finding no resolve, i asked, what time the guy (melvin or marvin she kept blaming everything on) would get to the room? she responded she would walkie talkie him and he would be down soon, as he was taking out the garbage. i would like to say, that it is now 12:13 am and the guy still has not shown. should we still expect him or maybe he'll show up tomorrow minutes before we checkout? my frustrations are forcing me to no longer overlook everything else that is wrong with this room and our stay. like the funky smell of the water in the bathroom, the ripped bed skirt on the bed, the dissatisfactory front desk, the misleading literature on amenities, the nonworking phone (forcing us to walk to the front desk every time we had a complaint or request), the small splatter of blood or "red" make up on the bathroom door. my brother just purchased a house near here, and we were intending this would be the hotel we would patronize during our visits. we are seriously reconsidering. the beautiful decor and free breakfast isn't worth the...
Read moreThis review is based on two stays at this property, one in January and the other in February. I decided to roll both stays into one review since they didn't differ that much. |Overall I would say the stay was not bad. The people at the front desk were really nice and helpful which makes you feel more welcomed and you can go to them if there is a problem. |I had one of the studio rooms and not the one bedroom rooms that they have. The room was ok. I found it to be a little dated. The thermostat is a little wonky and depending on the room, the refrigerator can have annoying humming noise. I'm noise sensitive so this is something that bothered me. I had to unplug it before going to bed so it wouldn't wake me up. On that note, everything seemed really quiet which for me is a huge huge factor in what I think of a place. One thing that I didn't like is that there wasn't any housekeeping. I don't need it every day but since there is a kitchen (that I used), it would have been nice to have someone just come and empty the trash and swap out bathroom towels. Not the end of the world that there wasn't but had this happen at another Residence Inn where I stayed for over a week and no one ever came to clean the room. It must be a thing with Residence Inns. ||One of my negatives is the breakfast. Now I went to the supermarket to get my own food to make my own breakfast so I didn't eat the breakfast. I just saw what they offered. I have to say, they offered nothing healthy. There really wasn't, in my mind, anything that is good for you. There was barely any fruit and if there was, it looked horrible. I would for sure stay away from the breakfast. Plus there are breakfast options outside of the hotel where you may fair a little better or at least have more options. ||Speaking of location, It's convenient to restaurants and shops but most are chains and big box stores. There is a little downtown to Dover that isn't very far but sadly, there isn't much of a reason to venture that far so what's around the hotel is plenty fine. I'm from the Philadelphia but live out West now so being close to Wawas was important to me and they weren't too far. it's the little things. ||If I were to find myself in Dover again, I would stay here. I stayed at the Home2 Suites in the area last year and that was awful. This Residence Inn by far was better. Check it out. It may be the...
Read moreI stayed there in March/April. It was the worst residence inn. It is a Blenheim property where the GM/Jessica Yaccone reports directly to Nellie Sonecha. I tried reaching out to Nellie Sonecha with my issues of being evicted during the pandemic and she wouldn’t return any of my calls and told her staff at Blenheim properties that she wouldn’t take my calls. I tried reaching out to Jay Sonecha, the president of Blenheim homes, and refused to take my call per his assistant. He even had my number blocked. There is no customer service department and Marriott seems to get less involved. The GM asked us to leave during the governors mandates during the pandemic. We agreed to leave by the 7pm and then the GM proceeded to involve the Dover police. Jessica changed it to an eviction instead of the governors mandate of 7pm because she wanted to have us leave the property by 5pm when her shift was over. The police department even said we were very nice and there were no issues and that we agreed to everything. Jessica had the police department come back at 5pm to make sure we left and she yelled at us because we were still gathering the last of our belongings at 5:15pm and it was past her shift. We had less than 3 hours to pack up everything. We stayed there for over 2 weeks and still had another 1.5 weeks left in our reservation. It was impossible to get everything packed and loaded into the suv within 3 hrs. The attorney general apologized for the treatment cause Delaware is known as a ‘friendly’ state. These are all facts of my experience with the residence inn and the customer service. Also, I called other Marriott residence inn in Delaware and all of them were letting residents/guests stay until the end of their reservation regardless if they were a first line worker or any other situation. I have the names, phone numbers, dates and times that I called each one. Blenheim Marriott residence inn in Dover Delaware was the only one Mariott residence in Delaware that handled it differently. It appears only the Dover one is owned by Blenheim (Sonecha family) Again I was fine with leaving based on the mandate but being evicted and having too Dover police show up at my door was very scary and still have nightmares about all of it. Again these...
