This target has the rudest most unprofessional customer service by far of any target I have ever been to. I love the targets in NC but I have realized my mom was right the Dover target is AWFUL!!! Corporate really needs to send people in undercover to attempt returns or to pick up items and they will see how BAD their store is. They NEVER have the baby ointment and soaps stocked. It has been almost empty on now 6 Delaware visits. I bought a instapot for my mom in apex NC as a Christmas gift. She finally tried to use it 3 weeks ago and it only worked on saute. I checked store availability at Dover every few days for 3 weeks and it was never in stock so my mom could exchange it. So I mailed her the receipt to just return it. I even CALLED AHEAD and spoke to manager MIKE and explained I mailed her the receipt but the debit card was obviously with me in NC. He assured me the money could be put back on the card and that they also have a cash option. My mom sent my stepfather to target as she refuses to go in Dover target due to not one not two but 3 previous bad experiences with their customer service desk people and managers. They tried giving my stepfather hassle about returning the money so he had mike paged. Mike proceeds to lie to my stepfather saying I told him i mailed my mom my debit card ( like I Don't need it at home). He then tells my stepfather well to be helpful we can refund it as cash but we won't be able to return the tax i paid. Joke was on him as my stepfather is a TAX AUDITOR for the state of delaware. My stepfather informed him that what he just said was ILLEGAL to do. All of a sudden mike started back peddling and claiming he misspoke. So if you have ever bought anything in another state that you returned in DE and they didn't refund you the taxes paid contact the corporate tax auditors for the state of DE and complain because target commited a crime by not giving you...
Read moreAt this Target Dover location, Yvonne was the absolute worst and nastiest cashier I've ever encountered, rude, disgusting talking over, downright disgraceful. If you shop here beware she is definitely annoyed as soon as you approach the line no matter how pleasant you are. I thought she was just being mean to the elderly couple ahead of me but unfortunately I was wrong.
See for yourself...
Me: Hello ma'am, I'd like to review my items to make sure that they qualify for the promotion.
Yvonne: (rolls eyes and sighs) can't you check the app?!?!
Me: Sure, let me pull that out, one second
Yvonne: (sighs) well it just takes a moment, I'll scan these, if they don't scan they don't qualify
Me: okay that's fine too, puts phone away
Yvonne: PULL IT UP ON YOUR PHONE TOO
Me: okay, just a second ma'am, pulls phone back out
Yvonne: points at screen, yeah these aren't with that promotion
Me: oh okay, no worries, I'll still like to purchase everything
Yvonne: looking through her app
Me: scrolling through my app Oh okay I see the brands with the promotion, they're right here, so the products are listed here, I see it now
Yvonne: taps my phone, see how they're not listed here
Me: yes, thank you, that's fine
Yvonne: (sighs and turns head away) yea the app would've told you that though
Me: moving to pay
Yvonne: so next time, the app, okay
Me: silence
Yvonne: hands me my receipt
Me: I work in custom service too and I get it, but you're coming off as rude and nasty to me
Yvonne: (rolls eyes and shrugs shoulders)
Me: well you should and need to work on it
Yvonne may just not like the elderly, minorities, or homosexuality (the flag pins on my purse). Either way, customer facing roles may really be traumatizing for shoppers and maybe working stock would best...
Read morePros: It's not Walmart. The parking lot is much less horrendous to deal with, too. The shelves are kept nicely stocked, and store is kept neat and clean, barring the typical ignorant customer that leaves their empty Starbucks cups sitting in random spots as if trash cans don't exist.
Cons: This location seems to heavily depend on people using self-checkout, despite the fact that there's only four booths for that. There's hardly anyone on the actual registers in the various lanes, so that checkout line is prone to snaking very far back into the store (as in, extending past the zone of checking out). I tend to come in only wanting a couple of things, so it's very unappealing to have to wait for an eternity in line just to make one small purchase, just because there's no one on the registers minus a small handful of other employees in a high period.
Neutral-ish: I'm uneasy about being in the parking lot during the evening/night. For whatever reason, there's a very high concentration of homeless people that tend to be staked out in this location's parking lot in this time frame, and almost every single time that I go here after work on a closing shift, I get suddenly approached out of nowhere by one. This is to no fault towards the homeless; everyone needs help, and I hope that they can find the help that they need in their predicament. I just genuinely do not like the experience of pulling into a parking space, turning my car off, opening my door, and then having someone wearing a hood immediately start pacing towards my car from the dark moments later, sometimes with their hands in their pockets. This is enough to make me avoid dropping by if it's...
