United Methodist Thrift Shop — Local services in Durango

April 2024 Update: I finally made it to this place, and it was ok at best. Women's clothes seemed to be priced about $3 and up. I did see some tshirts for 50 cents and $1. Things seemed picked over. I didn't end up buying anything here.

Original post September 2023: We tried to go here on a Saturday morning in September. We didn't actually make it here, and I was so disappointed.

The way Google told us to get there was blocked off by a farmers market or an outdoor arts/crafts fair or some such. I kept trying to go around the blocked off roads, hoping Google could reroute us and get us there, but it never could. We drove around in circles for a while, and never even saw the thrift store. I think it was on the same street as the market that was blocking the streets.

There was no parking anywhere near the blocked streets, and my friend is disabled, so we couldn't park and walk to the thrift store....

Over 25 years I have been a regular shopper at First United Methodist Thrift Store. Great finds. Warm winter boots and coats. Nice styles. Staff is fantastic. Other customers friendly. Only down side is some customers and shop owners come here to buy to stock their own downtown shops significantly raising the items price. Some people buy to resell on eBay. Most of the customers are ordinary Durango working class who can't afford high...

The MTS is an excellent thrift store to visit when you're looking for reasonably priced clothing and other treasures you didn't even know you needed! The store is clean and well organized and even smells good! :) The best part about the MTS is that the store's profits stay in Durango and support numerous community organizations that are the heart and soul of our town. Shopping at MTS-what an fun and easy way to give back to...
