Warning: Long Review:
I'm giving Moda Salon two stars for the hairstylist and the receptionist. Otherwise, I would give it 1. I'm writing a bad review regarding the manager of the salon. I will not be back.
I genuinely liked my hairstylist, but she didn't listen to me. When I first asked her to cut my hair, I asked for a hair trim (1 inch); she cut off 3 inches. It was a cute haircut, so it didn't bother me.
We talked about hair color several times before our appointment. I explicitly said I didn't want dark brown mahogany hair. When she was drying my hair, my roots were bright red, and the rest of my hair was dark brown. To remove the red roots, we had to dye my hair dark brown - that mahogany brown color.
I told the receptionist I wasn't happy with my hair as I checked out. She said she understood, and I shouldn't pay, but I had to talk to "Mayghan," the manager. I waited for the manager for 10 minutes after she got out of the bathroom. She said, "I understand you're unhappy with your hair, but I saw the hair color, and our hairstylist gave you what you wanted. So you'll need to pay for the full appointment."
I understand that mistakes happen. However, the lack of accountability is the issue here and is why I'm writing the review. It's like asking for salmon at a restaurant, and you receive chicken and being told you're supposed to eat chicken because that's what you ordered...f*cked up, right? Just no.
In the end, IÂ would have returned to this salon if they had taken accountability, admitted they had made a mistake with the hair color, and offered a free color correction. The manager was so off-putting that I don't want to return to my stylist again.
It's clear that the salon doesn't care about its customers and especially doesn't welcome constructive criticism. Thankfully my bank will refund me.
UPDATE:
After the owner's response I am reducing the two star review to a 1. The lack of professionalism of this spot is appalling to me. I have gone to higher end salons that are willing to admit they've made a mistake, and it's hilarious to me that they're telling me I had the hair that I wanted. I'm happy to provide photos with the inspiration I shared with my stylist. It's nothing like what I had asked for. For anyone who is considering Moda as their new salon, I would look elsewhere. Also, side note I love the owner spelled my...
Read moreI love the overall look of the actual salon itself, and the staff is usually very warm and welcoming. I find that they tend to run a bit behind schedule/go over the estimated wait time given to you, but itâs made up for with the quality of the haircut. This is the first place Iâve been to that gave me the proper asymmetrical bob Iâve been looking for and I couldnât have been happier with it. And can I just add that the way they wash your hair? Incredible. They give you a full-on head massage that canât help but make you feel relaxed, if you werenât already. You can also tell that theyâre passionate about their work and the products they use for your hair, but you never feel pressured into buying anything more than what you came in for. Iâve heard a few people mention the fact that theyâre expensive, but their pricing is worth it considering how good of a job they always do, and theyâre still either around the same price or less expensive than half of the other salons...
Read moreNot the vibe at all. Went in to lift black box dye to my original hair color and Mayghan told me she couldnât do what I wanted due to how my test strand lifted. Mayghan never called me about the test strand before my appointment. They cut the test strand out of my hair and left bleach on it for âa couple of hoursâ. When I came in, they just said my hair was fried and didnât even show me the test strand. I was blindsided.
She then offered like balayage and highlights or to simply grow it. I was obviously upset and started crying- instead of comforting me she just watched me cry and didnât say anything, except âI could cut your hair insteadâ. I was still crying and had to leave, and she just said âok byeâ. Never once like âIâm so sorryâ or âitâs going to be okayâ or âI get itâ or here let me recommend somebody else. Nothing.
I went some place else and actually got to see my test strand being done and talk with the stylist about what she sees and the...
