Woow.. #3 billion was spent on this new terminal and I guess there are still some things missing but let's focus on positive things...
it got the largest investment the state has ever received from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
it has 33 gates with the ability to handle an estimated 13.6 million passengers annually. (not all of them are fully functional now).
several spaces were sensor-enabled and "smart," including check-in, security, and the doors of departure gates. The check-in hall had tall ceilings and white walls which brings bright natural light.
There were plenty of self-check-in (60 kiosks) and bag drop kiosks that accompanied the traditional check-in counters.
Past security and into the departures hall, Terminal A looked refreshed with more towering windows and modern panels on the ceiling.
ofcourse eatery outlets like Shake Shack, Kiehl's, Starbucks, The Office Tavern Grill, Kitchen Step, Bluestone Lane Coffee, Mediterranean fare, and Jersey Mike's Subs are there.
Restroom areas are clean, ample sitting arrangements with more amenities. Everywhere you turn, there are reminders of Jersey culture, from fun trivia to artwork
I was here last week to catch the United flight to Tampa and got a chance to spend some odd 2 hours at this new terminal.
Air Canada, American Airlines, JetBlue, and United Airlines operate out of the new terminal upon opening on January 12, 2023. United Airlines operates out of both Terminals A and C.
Drop & Pick up: the shiny Terminal A includes four lanes for curbside drop-off and pick-ups. it has displays showing passenger pickup #.
Great to see the...
Read moreLast Thursday I finally got a first glimpse of the new Terminal A at Newark airport (EWR), home to Air Canada, American, Delta, JetBlue, and select United, officially opened in phases throughout 2023. After exiting TSA before heading to one of 33 gates or 4 lounges, what a striking contrast view from its predecessor with high ceilings and airy, light-filled concourses filled with murals and other public art works from New Jersey artists. The furniture was modern, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing. Travelers relaxed with their laptops on cozy wooden chaise lounge chairs, waiting for their flights. This terminal received a five-star rating—and the best new terminal in the world designation—from this year's Skytrax World Airport Awards. What's next at this airport: rebuilding Terminal B. It's part of Port Authority plans to spend $30 billion to redo New York...
Read moreFlew through for connection again on April 12. Unbelievable… didn’t think it was possible to get worse, but it has. Not about people, friendly given circumstances… or facilities in the new terminal (shiny new)… all about inconvenience and difficulty connecting to or from it to any of the other terminals.
Diamond platinum on Delta, global service on United, hit most major airports in the US and international… can’t think of a good comparison for the inefficiency and inconvenience of this new terminal. Bureaucratic NY design and planning at its best. Has made Newark my least favorite airport in the country by far.
——————- Wow… if United books you a connection in Newark through terminal A and C… book a different airline, airport, anything to avoid… 25 plus min, pain to go through...
