How should I describe our experience? Well, to begin. My family has been vacationing in Emerald Isle for 11 years now, we LOVE this place and consider it a second home. Every shop owner/employee you'll find on the island is a gem! With, of course, the exception of ABC liquor store next to food lion. Please, I beg of you-don't buy from them, they are incredibly rude; and dare I say, even self-righteous. My husband and I went in to get a small bottle of Hennessy to flambé steaks with. We arrive at the counter to check out, I hand the woman my ID and credit card, and she looks up at my husband (who is 7 years older than I) and very rudely asked him where his ID was (like... What?!) we inform her that his ID is in our car, but it shouldn't matter because I'm the one buying (she failed to notice that the credit card has my husbands name on it and isn't even signed on the back). So- she forced him to wait outside because "[she] doesn't have to sell us anything if one of us is without an ID], in my momentary utterly stupid judgement, I went ahead and bought the Hennessy. I wish we'd left the bottle on the counter and walked out. We will not return. No one, especially CUSTOMERS, should be treated as though they are juvenile delinquents sentenced by the liquor store operator atop her very high, very...
Read moreAVOID THIS PLACE. I've been going to EI for the past few years with my Girlfriend and her family. I recently turned 21so I wanted buy a mini bottle of Crown. Going in the day before I had no problem buying alcohol from the man behind the counter, even with my Girlfriend and her sister with me. Though the next day I came back for 2 more mini bottles and the woman behind the counter asked for everyone's ID even though I was the only one buying anything. One of us left their ID in the car because she was under the impression (like any normal person) that you didn't have to have an ID to be in the store. Not only that the way we were denied was very rude. At least say we can't serve you rather than "I won't let you buy this". For anyone going into this store make sure everyone has their ID or don't expect to be able to buy. We ended up going to the nice ABC store over the bridge. So...
Read moreWhile shopping in this store, we asked for help looking for a specific item, and the lady working there was extremely rude. Not only was she not helpful or friendly, but she continued to talk to another person who works there about us while we were standing right there. They complained about us asking for help while we were in earshot, and about us not knowing anything and just standing around looking. Needless to say, we set down about $100 worth of alcohol and went to a different store. Their selection is really good, it’s a shame they employ such...
