Recently after relocating to Colorado, I sought meaningful ways to engage with my new community and happened upon Cafe 180. Intrigued by their mission and operational model, I decided to dedicate a few hours volunteering, which unveiled a truly inspiring environment to me. This establishment not only serves great meals that surpass regular dining options but also caters to individuals who may not always have the means to pay.
In my brief time there, it was apparent that a significant number of guests were enjoying meals despite their inability to pay, reflecting an amazing and sustainable model crafted thoughtfully by those behind Cafe 180. The real… is not only the delivery of such services but managing to incorporate volunteers, like myself, seamlessly into their operations.
Specific love/cheers to Suzanne - both of them! - Thomas, and D, for not only welcoming an untrained volunteer into their kitchen with open arms and radiant smiles but also allowing me to be a part of their incredible mission. I am enthused to continue lending a hand here, aspiring to learn their processes to become progressively helpful in the kitchen, though I find solace knowing that if all else fails, my dishwashing skills will always be of use. Cafe 180 is not only a beacon of community service but a place where my time and efforts are utilized to support an uplifting and noble cause, and I am eager to contribute in...
Read moreI love the ethos of Cafe 180: all profits go toward feeding those experiencing food insecurity! What a great cause. The food is also very affordable and generously portioned. The staff was friendly and accommodating to modifications. Easy parking, plenty of seating, and a wide array of menu options for nearly every diet. GREAT for vegetarians! My food was done in less than ten minutes, making Cafe 180 an ideal lunch stop during the week.
My only recommendation for the staff would be to hold off on making social media content if customers are eating. The staff were filming reels inside the restaurant while I was eating, which made me feel extremely uncomfortable and self-conscious. As someone with a history of disordered eating, the knowledge that I might end up on a restaurant's social media page with food in my mouth detracted from the experience. "Don't risk filming customers in vulnerable situations, such as eating, without their consent" is a good rule!
Otherwise, this would've been a...
Read moreHere for the 2nd time & thought I’d leave a review. The first time I came here I got this warm Turkey sandwich with herbed Mayo and roasted tomatoes. It was so good that I recreated it at home several times since.
I told my 10-year-old daughter about the fact that people can pay what they can, how people can eat for free and how the food was surprisingly good.
She’s been asking to come for weeks and we’re here now. Drove 20 mins out of the way to get here. She’s most impressed with the oatmeal chocolate chip cookie (it’s really good 🤤). I’m most impressed with how clean it is in here. The open kitchen is really nice. I appreciate the transparency. The apple, walnut, balsamic salad was so good! Each time I paid what I could, making it very affordable, but I wanted to be reasonable. My kid donated her $2 :) Just a wonderful...
