The Good Shepherd Humane Society kept my cats while I was newly homeless & in hospital for attempting medication overdose suicide. They were wonderful to them. My friends take their things there to donate to such a good cause that not only helps animals, but people too.
They sure have a better cause than the thrift store in town operated by a "Christian non-profit organization". They took almost ALL of my possessions from the house I rented at their non-profit community "Echo Village" to sell at their store, while I was in hospital for 10 days. THEY EVEN TOOK MY ROLLING WALKER. I have MS & scoliosis, which Suzie said I exaggerated in court. They'd evicted me after my lease ended, for having reported them to HUD for their refusal to fix my broken heater for the first month I was a tenant, in November. I was on waitlists in 3 counties when my lease ended. FIVE sheriff cars with deputies arrived & they beat on my door to throw me & my possessions out. I panicked, & took all the pills to end it.
I'm now facing 6 years in prison & a $10,000 fine. They had filed a false affidavit after court, claiming I said I'd "burn my house down to commit suicide", a 1st degree felony terroristic threat. I was pulled over 3 months later for a broken headlight & learned about this. I spent 22 hours in jail, & most of the month's income to get out. Uber's background check company reported the charge to them, & they deactivated me until it's over. My car was eventually repossessed. When I went to get my car & dog after hospital they said "you can't be here without police", but DIDN'T say it was because they had filed an affidavit claiming this lie. It was early February, & I drove Uber riders for 3 more months unaware there was a warrant. I could have had riders in my car when stopped for the broken headlight & arrested, stranding riders somewhere. Suzie was likely counting on it.
If I took a 2 year "diversion offer" they were hoping I would from my first hearing to this day, I couldn't petition to get it off my record for ANOTHER year, & wouldn't be able to work for Uber again for 3 more years, IF it goes off my record. Five hearings later, they're still hoping I take the offer. It's pure abuse of the justice system by people with the wealth, lawyers & connections to do it. I'm dealing with a very busy public defender. I've said all along I want my day in court to clear my name, restore my record & try to get on with my life. It's not fair that they can do this to someone with no truth behind the accusation. It's a felony to lie to law enforcement & has ruined my life as I knew it, dragging on since my arrest April 3, 2024.
They may take away my freedom if I'm convicted. They can't take away my integrity or my First Amendment right to talk about it, although their store review has issues staying on Maps. Bullies don't like opposition or exposure. So many views of this review has won them infamy.
Consider which one to spend your money supporting. It's not about how fancy & big the store is. It's not about the creation of a 501(c)3 & what kind of philanthropic reputation that can afford, using a Christian platform to do it. It's certainly not about where to then spend even more money buying their coffee. It's about integrity, morals & ethics that Good Shepherd has, & the other store's owners do not. Spend based on that criteria.
Update: March 2025, new public defender found the accusation to police from Suzie was said to be based on a text. We've learned that was untrue. Also, ESPD misquoted the ex-manager who they called, recorded on body cam which my attorney got. The officer wrote her report in favor of Suzie's lie, misquoting the last answer of the woman to her saying the opposite thing. Officer: "Do you believe she's capable of burning her house to commit suicide?" Woman: "I don't know, I don't know." The report: "She believes Morgan is capable." Complicit or incompetent, I know what ESPD is capable of, & the prosecutor who deemed it worthy of a case.
10/6/2025, case dismissed.

Read moreMy experience in the store today was extremely disheartening. From the moment I went in, and attempted to be friendly, a woman who apparently was being trained seemed friendly. The other woman on the other hand, was rude, cold, and just plain unfriendly. I was surprised since I am acquainted with her. Every attempt to be”human” was met with disregard, even contempt! Being a small store, I overheard some of the conversations between the two women. It wasn’t good. At one point , this improper volunteer stated she would be leaving soon, but wasn’t going to until-and she pointed a thumb at me over her back and said- “Not until he leaves “. I also believe there were other references made about me to the woman being trained. While shopping I found an item to purchase and was waiting to pay. However both women disappeared into the back for several minutes and I just became fed up and left. As it turns out, I had to return to purchase the item I found earlier. When I went in, this time both women were very grim, and had little positive to say. I paid and left. Behavior and conduct like this I will not tolerate. Check your security cameras! Talk to the women separately! If this is acceptable, I will never conduct my business there again. And to think, I was shopping locally to benefit the shelter! Thank you for...
Read moreThe items in the store are mostly in great shape. The store isn't as big as I thought it was, but they made great use of space. The lady working was nice, made small talk and recommended rooms we didn't even know were open to us! The prices weren't horrible, most things were around $5, but we got overcharged, pretty significantly. I tried to mention it to the lady working but she just kept telling me that all sales were final. I bought the following items:
a dress - $5 Ladies button up shirt - $6 Ladies button up shirt - $6 Black denim jeans - $5 T-shirt - $4 Paperback book - $1
These items should have been $27 but they rang up as $33. I tried to tell her she rang my dress up twice, but the receipt she gave me had no items on it, just the $33 debit card charge. I pointed it out twice, my husband mentioned it once, and all she said was all sales were final.
We shop in Eureka all the time, as we're local-ish, so this would have fit in to our permanent rotation perfectly. I agree with their cause, and I don't necessarily "not" recommend this store, but WATCH CLOSELY when they check you out because they will not own up to...
