Verizon — Local services in Fairburn

My experience with Go Wireless, specifically at this location is mixed. On the positive side, the gentleman who assisted me was courteous and very helpful in setting up my new phone. On the negative side, there is a GoAdvantageSmartphone 4.13 that I was charged for in the amount of $79.00.

I was not informed of this additional cost prior to making the purchase. It was only when I reviewed my receipt and did some investigation online that I learned what this was. What should occur is that customers should be asked specifically if they desire GoADVANTAGE, all that it consist of, and be informed of the cost upfront. If this had been clearly indicated, I would have decided not to purchase it.

I went to the same GoWireless location about an hour later and indicated that I did not want this and requested a refund. The restocking fee was $70.00 and an a GA4 Trade2 cost in the amount of $20.00 was charged. Hence, I paid an extra $10 for something that I returned.

Based on this experience, it is important for the public to know that although Verizon appears prominently above the store, GoWireless appears less prominently. This is an authorized dealer. GoWireless appears on the receipt. Second, if you stop by to purchase a phone or exchange a phone, I would explicitly state at the outset that you are not interested in GoAdvantageSmartphone 4.13 to avoid being charged for it. I called Verizon and their customer service thanked me for my 15 plus years as a customer with multiple lines and set up an appt for 12pm to get an iPhone 17Pro. Got to the Fairburn store and Seriah was the only one working. He said there was no appt and he'd help me once finished with the walk-ins. Okay cool but then he tells me that he CAN'T get around the taxes so I'd be looking at $225 or so upfront but he'll throw in a FREE screen protector and case to compensate for the 2hrs I had to wait. I pay the charges and he emailed me the receipt WHICH shows he was gaming me the whole time with the speech about taxes etc. The $225 or so he said was "taxes" for the phone was him already factoring in the $57 case and $67 screen protector to hit his sales quota. No stars would be best. The staff didn't greet us or anyone who walked in. They didn't have the courtesy to advise those who were waiting that they'd be with them shortly. The staff just occasionally glanced at them and just stared at them. They didn't seem competent. I was with my mother who's almost 80. There was nowhere for her to sit. There was an available stool behind the counter but the staff used it for their scarves and hats and never offered for her to be seated. 30 minutes into their failed attempt to assist us, we told them we were leaving and ending up receiving THE BEST service at a real Verizon store in Peachtree City.
