Let me start by saying that if I could give "ZERO" stars I would. There is a reason why the ratings for this store is so low. I was there today to pick up three cards. The only staff person (an older man) was who later identified himself as the owner. The other reviews address his behavior in relationship to UPS service. Trust me, it's also seen with the customers of HIS own store! His rudeness and lack of positive customer service sends the message that he does not want to serve you as a customer. The tone in his voice is that of rudeness/sharpness and his facial expression and attitude, are just as bad. He never said hello when I entered the store (no one else was there and now I know why), and he never came over to ask if he could help me find anything. I was beginning to think that the store was unattended. When I finally figured out where to check out, I asked him if he had any other cards like the one I was looking for. He said there were not and he only boxed cards. Keep in mind that the bins in the "Thank You" card section was almost empty. I asked if he would be getting more in. He looked at me and in a rude voice said, "Yeah when Hallmark gets them". I didn't respond. Just waited for him to ring me up. He keeps the credit card machine close to him so he takes your card. He kept hitting the machine as though he was responding to questions appearing on the screen. I asked, "Aren't I suppose to approve the amount being charged". He said, "NO!!" then handed me my bag and walked away. I said, "Your customer service is not very good. You don't have to be so rude. I'm going to return these and go somewhere else". He replied, "Good go somewhere else". No eye contact at all. I kept standing there. I repeated, "I'm returning these". He said, "No!". I said, "You have to give me my money back". He said, "No". At that point I pulled out my cell phone and began recording. Only THEN did he come back to the register and begin the process of refunding my money. Then he charged me again instead of refunding me and as a result, he had to refund me double the amount. This IS NOT good customer service! There are other Hallmark stores in this city that do offer good service. It took me having to begin video recording him before he refunded my money. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND AVOID THIS STORE LIKE THE PLAGUE! If he doesn't want to be bothered with customers then he needs to close the store or let someone else run it. Not a good place because...
Read moreIt is a long-standing tradition of mine to shop Hallmark the day after Christmas to purchase ornaments for my kids, my Godson, my mother, and myself. I was saddened when the Hallmark in Finneytown shut down considering I live in NCH so I now make the drive to Fairfield. I have only been going to Beth Ann's for the last few years since it is hardly busy, and now I completely understand why. I, too, have had some horrible encounters with the owner of the store. He has rudely scolded me for innocently attempting to use a coupon on an item that was already discounted. He has uncomfortably stared me down as I browsed through his store when I was the sole shopper. But my favorite was when I called on December 23rd this year to ask if he could tell me the time the store would open on the 26th, and all I got was a cold "No". Then I proceeded to probe further as to why not, and he rudely replied, "Because I haven't even told my co-workers." Really??? I have a very difficult time believing that. It really frustrates me to no end that there are people like this in the world, but it infuriates me even more when they work in customer service (especially at a place like Hallmark) and that they continue to even with such horrible reviews. So if you would like to be serviced by a man that epitomizes Scrooge, then I would recommend you shop at Beth Ann's; but if you would like to visit a much happier store in Fairfield, I would definitely recommend Reichley's in Village Green. I am only giving 1 star because the women that work there have always been very kind...
Read moreI am giving it a few stars because it had what I needed, but the customer service could use a lot of work. I understand this is a family run Hallmark, so I am not sure if the owners even read or care about their reviews. I have only ever met the older man, but never his wife, so my review will be based on my experience with him. I don't care if you don't greet me at the door, I don't care if you don't talk to me the entire time I am shopping, I've worked retail I know that sometimes I don't want to deal with customers as well, I get it. I came in looking for Christmas ornaments and ended up putting it back in the ornament section. When I came to the register you made a comment to me that really made me sick. "Where's the ornament you had?" It caught me really off guard, and made me feel as if you were profiling me, maybe you thought I was stealing? Maybe you thought just cause I was a younger customer you didn't have to show the same respect towards me? It made me sick to my stomach and I still think about it today, when I walked out I was really upset. I really didn't want to purchase my other items with you, but you had already yanked my card out of my hand. Hopefully the next time I come to your store you're in a better mood. I just want to say please give the same respect to all your customer that walk in especially if you own the store, think about what you say before saying it. People come to this store because they love Hallmark and it brings cheer to them, please don't ruin...
