We attended a 50th high school reunion here over the weekend. It was very spacious. One part was well air conditioned and fans circulating the air. The other side had NO ventilation and was stuffy until they opened doors/windows. The reunion had a buffet and open bar. Drinks were reasonably priced as far as alcohol goes. I did not partake. There was water for the dinner. No tea. No lemonade. Water. No ice. Very disappointed. Servers were great. Attentive. For the meal, there was a wonderful mixed greens salad with cheese crisps. Only Italian dressing. Nothing else offered. The rolls were the highlight . Crisp outside with a soft inside. Brooklyn bread vibe. Real butter. Not pats. A little star on the plate. Not enough to butter your roll. The brisket in a creamy herb sauce was tender and so flavorful. Brisket can get chewy. This was fork tender. The other entree was a chicken Parmesan. Very good. Real chicken breast-not a compressed patty. Green bean almondine was bland. No flavor. Literally frozen green beans with slivered almonds on top. The mashed potatoes were instant mashed. No butter. No seasoning. Equivalent to wall paper paste. The cake was wonderful and moist. Very loud atmosphere especially with doors open. Could not hear yourself think. Loved the monorail outside. Ramp entrance, but still stairs to go down. Did not notice other ground...
Read morePricey. After the raffle there is nothing going on. There are TVs but not tuned to anything or off altogether. Could use a dart board or something. Maybe a little music? 15 bucks for a cigar, 25 bucks for a single bourbon neat and a food truck attached that sold $20 1/4 pound burgers. $50 should get you some kind of entertainment even if it's just some background music. I get it, its a once a week, couple hours, cigar bar but come on. Do something just a little special to entice a return visit. Something is better than absolutely nothing. Staff was super nice, decor was cool, the place just has no ambiance at all. This place could be so very much more with just a small effort to offer something other than a drink and a cigar. It has speakers it has TVs a huge well lit room but nothing going on. I just don't see what would bring people back being so boring. Maybe someone playing acoustic music? 2 paying customers would easily cover the cost for just an hour or two. Jungle Jim's is iconic. This venue of theirs...
Read moreBourbon and cigars on a Thursday night, what could be better?! Well, it would have been pretty nice to sample bourbon inspired dishes as portrayed on the online menu. Believe they had about 10 menu items in total, including the average pretzel sticks and watery cheese sauce we sampled. So definitely go for the fairly extensive bourbon selection and save the bar munchies for another joint.
Another positive: loving the space for a potential party or wedding venue; very open space and decently sized bar to host a classy event.
Insider tip: Back Porch is just a few miles down the road and a few more bourbon/ well known...
