Gave them a second try after learning they replaced the management. The pho broth has improved quite a bit, which is good, but unfortunately there are still plenty of issues which I'm hoping is mostly a lack of staff problem rather than systemic since there appear to only be 2 servers in the entire premise when they needed to at least double that number especially during lunch time.
Ordering was fairly quick but service was slow and inattentive, the server brought the pho and I had to ask to get utensils. Serving pho without the normal side of sprouts, basil, jalapenos, and lime is certainly a strategy, and not in a good way. I'm guessing the server just forgot or something, but normally that should have come out before the pho. Again, probably just due to the only 2 servers being swarmed trying to handle 10 normal tables and 2 large groups.
There is a 3% charge for paying with credit card, which they were very upfront about so point for honesty at least. Overall, the food has improved and it's not the worst place for pho and there is massive upside potential if they can ever get the service issues sorted out, but you're still probably better off driving the extra 10-15 minutes to Vietnamese Noodles & Sandwiches or Pho...
Read moreI had left a negative review on this place a few months ago and my impression has changed greatly ever since then, so I feel like I should post an update. My only complain was that they seemed to close their kitchen at the most random times and were often out of menu, but I learned that they were actually in the process of changing their management. I have visited here a few times after they changed their name and etc., and things have gotten a lot better. Besides, their food is really great. The only reason I kept visiting this place even while I was complaining was because of their food—yes, it is that good. I sometimes have a craving for Vietnamese dishes, and this place is just it. Not only they have the best Pho in town, they have really delicious, authentic rice dishes as well. R04 (Rice with Short Ribs Steak - Com Suon Bo) is a must. I won’t say they have the best service I’ve ever had, but they are still very nice and are very willing to cater to what you need. If you’re visiting Jungle Jim’s, you should stop by this place. Highly...
Read morePho district was a great Vietnamese option on the North side of Cincinnati.
There is plenty of parking as it is right next door to Jungle Jim's international market. Visited on a Tuesday late afternoon and it wasn't busy. The staff were friendly and attentive.
We ordered a pho with beef and tripe ($14 small / $16 medium) and a grilled pork vermicelli bowl ($14). The beef broth of the pho had good flavor and is accompanied with your typical side plate of jalapeno, bean sprouts, and basil. The vermicelli bowl came with a generous portion and the grilled pork was seasoned well. I recommend both dishes!
On weekends they serve their special bun rieu which is a crab tomato noodle soup and hard to find as many pho restaurants don't serve this. It happens to be one of my favorite noodle soups so I'll have to return on a weekend to try it here.
Overall good experience with a hardy meal and were able to walk it off at Jungle...
