I loved my initial experience at this store fall of 2014. I had great customer service and a good salesman to help me purchase a couch, two end tables, coffee table, and credenza.... Nearly $3000.00 worth of furniture. This drove me to come back to the business in 2017.
My experience in 2017 was completely different. I bought a couch, an ottoman and a chair from bullards. The salesman seemed disinterested that we were there. We ended up not using him for the final purchase because he was so rude and abrasive. The first two couches didn't fit through the doorway in our house. The movers scuffed and dented the walls of our house and tore the weather strip. When we came back to pick out another couch they wanted to charge a 50.00 fee even though they never did this for the first couch. When we approached them about it they said the clerk girl made an error and felt awful about it, but that they wouldn't charge us. We ordered another $1300 worth of furniture after the second couch didn't fit. They quoted us 6-8 weeks for the furniture to arrive.
7 weeks later, we emailed Bullard through their online service to check the status of the furniture. We got an automated confirmation email. We never received an actual response back from the business. After giving them a week to respond, we had enough. We cancelled our order due to poor customer service and poor communication. Im sad to have not received the furniture, but living by a set of morals and standards makes decision making easy. Upon cancellation, they retroactively made us pay for the girl's 50.00 mistake. I fully expected to pay the 50.00 fee for the second couch, but I didn't expect to pay for the first couch considering the business made an error. We ended up paying 107.00 for the two delivery fees despite clerical error for the first couch. The store policy states the customer is liable for the cost of delivery, but since we bought the furniture during memorial day weekend we got free delivery. We brought the manager who told us about the error back in May to discuss this with us and instead of contributing to the discussion, he stood there in silence. I'm embarrassed we even argued about 50.00... I'm even more embarrassed for the business since it is such a trivial amount of money to argue about and lose customers over rather than eat the cost to possibly salvage a chance at future purchases. Arguing with customers is always in poor taste.
I appreciate small/local businesses, but when a business has this type of customer service I can't overlook it. It ultimately drove me to write a review. Rude sales people, poor management, and incompetent clerk staff who can neither answer emails nor charge correctly to customers is why a ranked this business so poorly. Their furniture quality is decent, but good furniture can also be found at Haverty's and other businesses in town.
7/31 Update: Even though we went in person to cancel order and get reimbursed, they failed to reimburse us. They had to call to get the correct information since the sales people wrote down the wrong cc#. We're continuing to deal with incompetence even after the order...
Read moreWas very excited when first going to the store because our furniture was going to be delivered 2 days after being at the store AND we were getting 0% interest which is great! It wasnt until AFTER we applied for the financing and signed all paperwork that we were told one of the items in the bedroom set was not in stock, after literally JUST telling us that all items were available for immediate delivery. Ok, so one mess up. THEN when the furniture was delivered the drawers were not installed properly on the dresser. I immediately called the store and was told that they could not come back out until the following Friday because that is their specific delivery date for the town I live in. Friday comes and goes AND no one shows up. I call the store, they say they are not coming...but they are going to order me a new dresser. Not necessary...I just want the drawers properly installed. I wait again until the following Tuesday for them to come and say they have to take the whole dresser in because the bearings are missing on the drawers...could take up to 2 weeks. The salesman calls me yesterday and tells me they have my chest in stock and will be delivering it the next day....and asks me about my dresser...I tell him they had to take it in. SO he says he will check on it but the chest will be delivered tomorrow. SO tomorrow is here...no delivery...I can and they tell me that it will be delivered the FOLLOWING Tuesday bc that is the only date they come to my town. Why did I get a call saying differently. Fed up. This is my first and...
Read moreWe visit this location the week of July 8th-11th, for the first time. Met a real polite, poet speaking gentleman / salesman who assisted us. Which was the only reason I returned today . We took pictures of the furniture we wanted to come back and purchase for the living room and dining room. On arriving today it was a different price. The day we spoke he explained they had plenty in the back and could deliver it within the next week. I believe it was a Monday or Tuesday. Please don’t quote me on that delivery date. Nevertheless, we did go over everything in detail. I was told today, still the month of July . Approximately a week and a half later because he had to pay more so do I etc…. I’m trying to understand ,if you have a warehouse full of them waiting to be purchased yet you are going up on the price less than 2-3weeks/ whatever happened to honesty, customer service, loyalty. They request a copy of the pictures I took that day in the store to verify my truth, I’m assuming… I was even questioned. We blew the pictures up. They saw the background and everything was exactly as they still have in the store now as if I fabricated the pictures or prices. … totally ridiculous, I have never been treated in such a manner And I’ve traveled the entire world and came across all sorts of people … I am ne to NC and returned to Bullard because of the One gentleman and the store says locally owned and operated since 1957 sure the store has not survived staying in business handling customers in such a...
