So today my family and I went here due to other places being pack and we knew Carolina Ale don't normally be pack. Well my experience was horrible. The gentleman (with the two tone locs) at the door was very polite and welcoming. On the other hand my waitress whose name was Nadia J was a different experience. I could tell right off the back she was not in the mood due to her facial expression and body language. I didn't mind it at first because I said either she don't want to be here or somebody pissed her off before we got here. Well nah she was rude and mean altogether. I came with a $20 tip already ready to give to whoever serves us (I don't give tips no less than $15 because being a server could be a crappy job and I understand). She asked what type of drinks we wanted and I told her then I told her "thank you" when she left to go and get them. When we ordered our food I asked if she could just bring out whoever food is done first vs bringing them all out at the same to make sure we get our food hot. I asked nicely and respectfully. She said okay and I said thank you (in a nice way). We received our food room temperature which I did not complain about but I had asked for two dipping buffalo sauces on the side. Again when she would say no problem I would respond thank you. Everytime I would ask for something I was say thank you and even please. I could tell that she got irritated when I asked for another straw because she took my son's cup to refill it and not leave his straw behind, she looked some type of way and turn around with a little negative attitude. I let it go but what ticked me off was when I gave her $100 for my $91.34 bill and she brought me back $8. So I had asked for a receipt she got irritated and brought me one then I asked for my 66 cents. She reply that they don't have change in the restaurant and then took one of my $1 and left. I got up and went where she and some other waiteress were to get my $1 back get my change. As I am walking she is fussing about me wanting my change and then the other waitresses there started putting their comments in too. At that point I said enough is enough. When I got to the register she, Nadia J, proceeds to say "we don't have change here. We just round it off." So I said "okay so $8.66 is closer to $8 or $9?" Then I am assuming this next lady who spoke was the manager because she said "is it 60 cents or 66 cents?" I said 66 cents. Then she went and got me 66 cents. The other waitresses starting laughing saying "really 66 cents?" Yes, really. This is one reason why there business is always slow. Because of workers like them. I have always given out $20 tips except for one time I gave a lady a $15 there. This is not my first or second time eating there. I eat there quiet a bit. I don't care about rounding up numbers. Don't steal from me. I paid my bill with cash and expect to get my change back. First her attitude smelled horrible. Then the rest of them acting like high school children, not all of them, just three of them. She needs to evaluate herself before she walks through that door because another customer might not be so patient with her or the other three. People are not playing these days. When we left the gentleman with the blonde hair and glasses was polite and nice and told us to have a nice day. I should have given him or the gentleman with the two tone locs the $20 tip I had for Nadia J. Word of advice, if you are not in the mood to work, STAY HOME. People are not...
Read moreCame on a Sunday lunch date with my wife, brother, and sister-in-law. Brother and sister-in-law ordered drinks, we ordered appetizers, then our entrées a few minutes later. Appetizers were perfect—hot, fresh, and flavorful. Brother’s beer was great, but his wife’s drink had some kind of piece of plastic in it, so she returned it. Our server handled the piece of plastic barehanded and dropped it onto the floor after collecting the still-full cup. A few minutes later, our entrées came out, and while I didn’t notice it immediately, they weren’t hot. Brother and his wife ordered ribs, and we ordered burgers with chili fries. The fries were lukewarm, and the chili was far too chunky and dry to be put on fries. Burgers were mediocre at best, but sitting on the menu at $13 apiece. Server never asked how we wanted them done, but we could see why, because a Wendy’s Jr. Cheeseburger patty is thicker than what was on our burgers. The ribs were treated with a dry rub and a “sauce” that tasted like it was made of condensed vinegar. Brother and his wife tried several ways to mitigate the vinegar taste, but it was just too much, so they only managed 2-3 ribs off of the rack. My wife and I only ate half of each of our burgers because we just weren’t impressed at all, even if they hadn’t been cold. This is when we realized that we didn’t also get silverware or napkins, and we had chili and messy food in front of us. We asked our server for these things, and she disappeared for a couple of minutes before returning to give the table adjacent to us their silverware, and then gave us ours without saying a word to us. Shortly after, she did the same with the napkins. We discussed between ourselves and requested the manager when our server came around again, then sent our wives out to the car. Manager came, spoke with us, acknowledged that we still had basically all of our food present, then took our plates to show the kitchen staff and promised to return shortly. My brother and I waited several minutes, at which point I told him we were leaving the next time a commercial break aired. Sure enough, the main sports program came back, ran their piece, and launched again for commercial break, but we still had no sign of the manager returning, so we walked. Definitely not coming back here, and definitely do not...
Read moreI went in here on a College Football Saturday and sat at the bar. The bar seats were surprisingly empty save for two patrons to my right and two to my left. With all the games on I was in disbelief to see the restaurant not more busy. Don't get me wrong familes wete in there eating and enjoying the food and games, but I was expecting it to crowded.
I sat there for several minutes while waiters hustled about surviving their tables. The one person missing was the bartender. Everyone deserves a break but it took making eye contact with a manager to get service. If Steven hadn't shown up to take my order I surely would have walked out and crossed Carolina Ale House off my list of restaurants to try again. Thankfully he was on point, got my drink and food order, and apologized for the wait (he alone earned the 5 Star Service Rating).
I ordered a draft beer and the 6 piece "fiery" grilled wings. While they had some good spice that lingered on the lips and tongue, "fiery" isn't how I'd classify them. They were good, don't get.me wrong, we'll cooked and a bit of a snap from the grill. The better part was the house-made blue cheese dressing, which I was sure to save the 2nd dipping cup for use later at home.
Overall the drink selection us good. The wine list is made 6 selections at most, but if you're seeking beer or liquor selections, this place has a good variety. As for the food, besides the wings, there's no 'lighter side' options for those are either calorie conscious or wanting a small bite over something larger. Sliders or half sandwiches would be a good alternative menu selection. They have a variety of sides to choose from too, which seems to be a growing trend.
This is a sports bar, so the decor is heavily geared towards that end. It's a bit dark inside, despite the ample amount of windows. It also appeared that they had video games and at least pool tables available, with their own bank of TVs. The furniture and bar were a dark oak, which made the space feel smaller, but noise wasn't an issue.
Overall, a huge thank you to Steven for stepping up and taking care of me. I'll be back to try other things; I just hope Steven is there to...
