So, after spending the last few days eating Christmas leftovers, my Wife and I decided to go have some sushi and ramen at one of our favorite places. We ended up at Nona Sushi, our second choice, because our first choice was closed on Friday 29 Dec. Well, we've been to Nona's before and it is a nice place for a date night which is what we had in mind. We were promptly greeted and seated in one of the booths near the entrance. We ordered a Pacific Roll and two Blue Moons to get started, items that were brought relatively quickly by our great waitress, Alyssa. My wife ordered the Tonkontsu Ramen, and I ordered the Spicy Misso Ramen, we've had both here before and they are usually excellent. Today, however, that was not the case. Unlike other times, they brought my wife's dish first... almost 15 minutes later, they brought mine. As soon as my wife tasted hers, she said: "this doesn't taste like the last time, it is bland and tasteless and the broth is lukewarm. " Mine showed up, and although it wasn't as hot in temperature as in previous visits, I proceeded to eat it anyway. My wife took a few more sips of hers and when Alyssa came to check on us, we explained the issue. She nicely stated that she would inform the manager and that we should be able to order something else, since the ramen wasn't up to par for my wife. She handed us a menu and left for the manager. A few minutes later, Alyssa came back stating that the manager did not allowed her to replace the dish. My wife and I looked at each other in disbelief. We have spent hundreds of dollars at this place, and the manager couldn't even come and talk to us directly, offer an apology, or nothing. Not wanting to ruin our Christmas spirit, we paid our bill of over 55 dollars and left. It is now 7:40 pm, we left the restaurant and 6:45 and came home, my wife has been throwing up since we got home. May have to take her to the ER if we cannot bring it under control. My guess is that her ramen was undercooked and the manager knew it... I will not be returning to Nona, I will take my money elsewhere, suggest everyone reading this...
Read moreI want so much to love this place, but there are two issues that prevent it. Hopefully the restaurant manager checks in on reviews and considers making changes to the following: 1. The food comes out way too fast! We're all just barely eating our soups when we get hit with the salads. Before our forks even touch the food we get bombed with our entrees. It's pretty ridiculous, the incredible lack of timing. We end up eating a cold entree, and if I'm going to spend on average $27 per person, the food needs to be hot. If that wasn't bad enough, before we're half way through eating, the server comes and presents the check. It's almost as if they are trying to get rid of you. 2. The place plays really crappy jazz music. Maybe it's the owner's idea of being classy. Maybe the owner thinks that's what Americans want to hear when they find out. I don't know. What I do know is that it totally spoils the atmosphere. They should play some traditional Japanese music maybe include some awesome Japanese drum sets. Japanese drumming have no equals, and they should be proud of it and put it on display. Or if the drumming is too intense for eating, then the other types of Japanese music. Bottom line, the jazz music they play is terrible, if i want jazz I know where to go, and it's not to a Japanese restaurant. People may read this review and think my idea about this is cheesy or cliché, but they already dress the chiefs in traditional Japanese garb, complete with robes and bandanas. So there is already the element of attempting to provide an authenticate experience for the guests. I'm not expecting the staff to bow or greet guest with Tennoheika Banzai...
Read moreOne of my worst experience ever! We went to restaurant yesterday and were told we have to wait about 25 minutes. We received message cca 15 min later that our table for 3 was ready. Two minutes later we were at the restaurant and were told it was a mistake, the table is not ready...then we wait, and we wait, and we wait some more. Meanwhile, people will just walk in and be seated without the waitlist. We were still standing in front of a whole team of hostesses, plus the restaurant manager. After another 10 min of waiting, one hostess asked if we were on the waitlist because they didn't show anything. You didn't show anything because you gave our table away right after you messaged us the table was ready. We were finally given a terrible table with uncomfortable chairs, while 2 people after us were sited at a 4 people booth with soft chairs by the window. The food was disgusting and the server was slow. Spent half an hr in the restroom after eating their food. Prices are high for the quantity and quality of food served. They not once apologized or tried to make it better. Well , Fayetteville Nona Sushi, from hostess to the server, and food on the table, you were a horrible experience and I do not recommend your restaurant to my worst enemy! I also observed a different negative attitude against white people. No worries, I can take my money...
