I don’t ever write reviews on really anything. But, I had to come and share my experience here. I ate here for the first time tonight. It was across the street from Barnes and Noble, so I thought “why not?” Bad idea. I went to place a to-go order, and the service was laughable. There was one guy on the phone where orders were placed. He seemed to be dealing with a difficult customer. It wasn’t very busy. Multiple other employees walked up casually, but nobody thought to take my order. I stood there for 15 minutes, and finally wrote my order down on a piece of paper. I will say that the staff was friendly and apologetic. But, this is hardly a reason fo praise this place. After coming back to get my food, it too 20 minutes to get it. I wasn’t too bothered by this. I had nowhere to be. After getting the bag, of course I had to check it. I had ordered steak fajitas. There was no dressing for them. I have never been to a Mexican restaurant that didn’t have lettuce, tomato, and sour cream with the fajitas. The guy said he would bring me some. That took another 15 minutes. He brought me a small cheese dip cup with everything in that. It was 2 tablespoons worth of lettuce. I was done with the place. I left. After getting home and opening everything, there was maybe 2 cups worth of steak. They were in strips that had a layer of fat covering one side. The steak was high quality, but I don’t like fat on my steak. I had to cut it into smaller pieces to be able to bite through it. A little under half of it, I tossed, as it was all fat. In the two tablespoons worth of tomatoes they gave me, one of the chunks had the outside part of the core on it, where the tomato attaches to the plant. It’s almost as if it was there on purpose. Of all the pieces, what are the chances I get that part in this small amount of tomato. Maybe because it’s all trash. This restaurant is trash. I paid $24.60 for fajitas and a small cheese dip. Even if the food was good and I didn’t have to toss nearly half of the steak, it was still too expensive. But, for food to be this terrible, that price is really lamentable. I am not well off, and I eat at restaurants maybe once a month. I can’t afford them. I won’t be back here. Don’t eat here unless you are okay with awful customer service and overpriced low quality food.

The presentation of my plate was creative and colorful. There was more flour tortilla than meat inside the burrito and the steak/cheese were a bit on the salty side. Would it hurt the business to put more crumble cheese on the beans? Rice was edible, but not that great. I enjoyed the $5 holiday margarita, I could actually taste tequila. The event that ruined my party of 8's night was a 40-year-old large black lady who was talking disrespectful to my friends and I. She literally started arguing with my 21-year-old friend and started walking her way like she was gonna do something. Are you serious? I have never witnessed that type of unprofessionalism in the food service industry. How is a grown woman (employee) gonna act so immature to someone half her age? She didn't even have to say nothing to my friends, they did not speak to her; we just saw her show up towards the end of our night. Our food took over 30 minutes to get served to 7 out of 8 people, and our 1 friend's food had to be packed to go because everyone was done eating! They tried to charge her for the sangria that she didn't even drink, because she wanted her food with the drink. She left the to-go food at the table because it was rude and does not make up for how they treated us. I will say that Ciara, our server, was a sweetheart! She was super friendly and attentive. The male manager in a red button shirt seemed nonchalant when we spoke to him, gave us the classic, "I'll address the issue with the employee." 😐 Really, sir? Thanks for nothing. The place wasn't even packed, maybe 25% of capacity. What are the excuses for the slow and poor service?

I've always like On the Border because for a chain their food is pretty descent and it is seasoned well. Only had a few misses, but this is not one of these times. I had to wait a little before I was acknowledged and asked about a table, but it makes sense as my waitress, Alana, looked like she was the only one working in the entire restaurant. She was bringing drinks, food, ans cleaning tables as well. She literally was doinf everything and managed to keep such a positive attitude and kindness. I decided to get the fajita salad with chicken after she recommended it above the taco salad. And it was worth it. The chicken was freshly grilled, full of flavor, and the avocado dressing was super refreshing and spicy too!! Loved while I waited that I tried out a free queso for checking in and munched on their chips and salsa. The queso did get a little thick for me to quickly, but otherwise it was really good. Alana checked on me with no rush and I got to really take my time and relax on their patio that had two large screens. I hope in the future that they will hire some more staff. I felt bad for Alana having to do so much alone. It really made my day being at On the Border and I so will be back.

I went there 1 time, my first & and my last. Me & my young child went for dinner around 8:15pm. Absolutely horrible service. I never saw our server except for when she brought our 1 and only drinks and then the food. My food was cool and looked disgusting. I took 1 bite, and that was it. My daughter's food was actually warm & somewhat decent, even though it was made completely wrong. It took me 10 min to pick all of the peppers out of her nachos. We asked specifically for white queso with no peppers, and it came with their yellow queso with a ton of peppers. The server didn't even ask to remake them. I ended up sharing my daughter's dinner with her. The manager or some other employee who seemed to be in charge was literally yelling loud to all the servers about what they still needed to do as far as cleaning went. The last time we saw the server, she came to the table, took my "full plate" off the table without asking why the hell the entire meal was still on the plate or if I needed a box which I did NOT! Then, she drops the check. She walked away and then began walking circles around our table, waiting for me to put the payment on the check. Meanwhile, my daughter is still eating. It was honestly one of the worst, if not the worst, restaurant experiences I've ever had in my life! I do not and will not recommend this restaurant ever to anyone!!! This would have been a completely different review had the service been even at the least somewhat decent, and the food been made correctly, was hot & actually looked like what it was supposed to look like. Even then, it would have been at best 3 stars. The server, food, yelling employee, and all around stress i felt to pay the bill immediately ruined our experience with On The Border Mexican Grill. If there was a ZERO star option, that would be my review! If you look through all my reviews, I'm honest and respectful and give businesses a fair review. I'm definitely not being a Karen or a picky entitled little brat! I'm just letting people know about this restaurant and what they could possibly...

Excellent food. Excellent cocktails. INCREDIBLE service thanks to Micheal! It has been a long year for my family and we wanted a fun, nice night out. We managed to be seated at a table with a server who truly went above and beyond to make us happy. The last time I experienced service this amazing was at Gordon Ramsay's fine dining restaurant at London of West Hollywood. Michael, thank you SO MUCH for such a joyful experience. You kept at perfect balance of attention and giving us space. Our cups were never empty. Our food came out fast and the food and drinks were delicious. I have worked in the service industry a good portion of my work life. We are a working (lower) middle class family. We don't get to go out to eat often, but when we do, it's usually to take a break from daily chores of cooking, cleaning and dishes. I make hourly and money isn't always as we hoped, but with everything going on in the world, it's healthy to treat ourselves sometimes, enjoy each other's company and relax. It felt REALLY good to know that this evening out to dinner was worth every penny spent on our meals and beverages as well as the money spent towards tipping a wonderful server. If we could have afforded it, we would have left more. Words cannot express our gratitude for the wonderful experience. Your kindness, politeness and joyful attitude is really lacking in this world and Michael's positive vibes really lit up the dining hall we were seated in. Please don't ever stop being you! There are families (like mine) out there who truly appreciate the effort and hard work you put out there. We hope you have a very happy and prosperous new year! Anyone else needing a night out and choose this location, ask for Michael to be your server (if he's available). Again, Michael......
