Mr. John's Beach Store — Local services in Folly Beach

We decided to shop here because the shirts were colorful and cute, however, they are very poor quality. We spent a LOT of money on shirts and souvenirs, but when the kids started to put on their shirts, the youngest one's shirt had seams that were open (not sewn properly). The sign says no refunds, which was fine, as we wanted the shirts, so I asked if we could exchange. The woman there (young, blonde, very slender) had been pressing transfers on shirts and talking on her phone while we were shopping and seemed irritated when we were ready to check out. Upon my request to exchange the defective shirt for one that wasn't, she, again, seemed irritated, but said we could. I went to the shelves where they were and looked for the same design and color. The only other blue one was also defective, so I let her know and the youngest said he would take a yellow one. As I was checking the yellow one, the clerk acted like she was insulted, then she placed the two defective shirts right back on the shelf for some other unsuspecting customer to purchase. We left,. That night, after washing in cold on a gentle cycle, we discovered how really poor the quality of the transfers are, as the entire thing came apart, pulling off the shirt and even shredding in some.places. My daughter attempted to re-adhere the transfer, but it isn't working well because the shirt was clearly not prepped properly prior, nor, according to what we saw while in the shop, was the transfer pressed.correctly for adherence. The attitude of the clerk didn't help, either. We did nothing to warrant being treated that way, even though she wasn't nice to us at all. Next time we're in Folly Beach, this will NOT be where we spend our money. I have pictures of the shirt to show, but this isn't allowing me...

They sell fake Sonny Angels here. When we went in to tell them they are fakes, she clearly didn’t care, said no refunds and walked off. The one we bought at the shop is the shark in these photos. You can see that the quality is inferior. The detail in the wings, the fake has cloudy faded eyes. The paint job on the shark isn’t even correct, and doesn’t match what’s on the box. The way she handled the situation makes me believe that she knows they are fake and would rather have your money, instead of making it right and being concerned that they are fake. Just buy these through the company’s website , and for everything else, support a shop that has some integrity and cares about...

DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! My daughters and their boyfriends went in on Friday night looking for a few gifts. The 4 of them were looking at jewelry, clothes, etc. Oldest daughter’s boyfriend was asked to “empty his pockets” bc he was accused of shoplifting. And what do you know…nothing but his wallet and his phone were found. Oh yeah, he’s black by the way. The other 3 weren’t asked to do that. Glad they didn’t spend a dime...
