I’m going to be real with you – this restaurant is absolutely beautiful and definitely lives up to the hype when it comes to atmosphere.
I snagged a reservation and brought a date here for our second night out since she was really excited to try it. As someone who travels the world and eats at top restaurants every month, I was curious to see how this trendy new spot in my own backyard (Ft. Lauderdale) would measure up.
We started with mango martinis – they were incredible. Our waiter (Monty, I think?) was amazing, with an infectious energy that set the tone for the night. He even complimented me before I could compliment him – the guy was a vibe.
For appetizers, we ordered the carpaccio (delicious), tuna tartare (also great, though the chips were a bit much for the amount of tuna), and the arancini, which was hands-down the star of the night – absolutely ridiculous in the best way.
Things got rocky when it came to the main course. We ordered the beef wellington and some sides, but after about 30-40 minutes, our waiter came by to let us know they had to redo it because it was cooked incorrectly. Honestly, I get it – even at Gordon Ramsay’s own restaurant, the same thing happened to me recently, so it must be a tough dish to nail. The vibe was still good, so we stayed patient. A manager came by and mentioned they’d be comping the dish (or so we thought – it was loud and the music was BLARING, so it was hard to hear).
After an hour of waiting, the beef wellington finally arrived. Unfortunately, it was lukewarm and served cut in half without extra plates – so we awkwardly ate it in the middle of the table. The dish itself was just okay – the spinach (or whatever green was between the pastry and beef) wasn’t great, and the accompanying carrots were severely undercooked. For an entrée priced over $70, it was disappointing.
The dessert situation was also less than ideal. We ordered the galaxy dessert earlier (while still waiting for the wellington) to ensure it would be comped. By the time it arrived, we weren’t really in the mood for dessert anymore, but since it was on the house, we gave it a shot. Unfortunately, it was pretty weird – even my date, who loves sweets, couldn’t get into it. Only the ice cream was actually enjoyable.
The bill came, and they comped two appetizers and two drinks, which was a nice gesture considering we didn’t complain – that level of service is why I’m giving four stars instead of the three the night probably deserved.
A few additional notes: There’s no way to book the flower room online, but you can take pictures there or head upstairs after dinner where the DJ and club vibe are in full swing. Because of the long wait, we ended up being the last table dining while people around us were dancing and clubbing, which felt a bit rushed. The music gets incredibly loud as the night goes on – my ears were still ringing the next day.
I’d consider giving this place another chance after the hype dies down. I think they have some great dishes (especially the appetizers), but the mains didn’t live up to expectations. More of a spot for drinks and small plates rather than a full...
Read moreWe've been twice now.
We have tried: tuna tartar, burrata, short rib pasta, mushroom risotto, pork chop, ceasar salad, caprese pizza, creme brulee, smores, aaaaand the strawberry shortcake.
The food is terrific. It's well thought out, well prepared, and always flavorful. I also think it's reasonably priced for what you're getting.
When we ordered the tuna, we had an avocado allergy in our party, and the kitchen was incredible about making sure the crema was separated and the dish was clean.
The burrata was delicious, but they sent out 3 crostinis for a party of 4, which was a choice. We asked for one more, and they brought a whole plate, which was nice of them, but unnecessary when providing enough for the party in the first place would have been sufficient.
The pork chop was exactly as the server described. Perfectly crusted on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. The bone was picked clean.
The mushroom risotto comes with a crispy fried mushroom portion, which was fabulous. The short rib pasta was a huge hit. Creamy, tender, meaty, rich.
The caesar salad is fab.u.lous. It is absolutely one of the best caesars I've ever had. Everything about it is immaculate, and now I'm disappointed by any caesar that isn't Timbr's.
Theeee caprese pizza was terrific... the first time we ordered it. The second time was a bit soggy, and the flavors weren't the same? They were, but it just wasn't as good.
The desserts are unique and interesting. The creme brulee is great. The smores is actually a pot de creme with smoked, piped marshmallow and it's an event! It's definitely my favorite. The strawberry shortcake is a mini tower of donut holes, strawberry slices, chantilly cream, and the best strawberry ice cream ever. I would get just a bowl of that ice cream.
No matter which room you sit in, the vibe is super cute. Of course everyone's seen the flower room, but the main room is absolutely beautiful. It's supposed to feel like a forest and it does. Twinkling stars and leafy trees offer a deep romantic feeling.
AAAND there is an upstairs lounge! Love it.
Here's the thing. I definitely recommend the restaurant, but I found it inconsistent, and lacking communication. The left hand doesn't know what the right is doing.
The second time we visited one of the meals didn't come out. They kept saying it was coming, and it never did until everyone else was finished, and it had to be boxed up.
I do not blame the server; she was terrific, and while she never showed it, I think it's safe to assume she was frustrated. A manager came out to comp that dish and the desserts, which was very nice of them, but it still left a stain on what should have been a celebratory birthday dinner.
I highly recommend Timbr and am hoping to go back soon. There's still more I want to taste, but I have lowered...

I am a little late on this update, but Michael (Timbr's Creative Director) reached out to me via email after seeing my initial review. He indicated he wanted to "ensure a much better experience," and immediately made the reservation. I am always impressed with businesses that take the reviews and opinions of their customers seriously, and Michael's outreach definitely proved that Timbr is such an establishment. Suffice it to say, they delivered on Michael's intentions and my new ratings reflect that. While the atmosphere was already top notch, the service was even better than the last time (I hate that I cannot recall the server's name, but she was fantastic). Even the bar staff and other servers ensured that anything needed at the table was taken care of. I want to express my sincere appreciation for the effort that was made to address the shortfalls I mentioned previously and can report the food came out much faster this time around (at an acceptable temperature as well). After this experience, I can fully recommend that you give Timbr a try! Thanks to Michael and the rest of the team!
Since they opened, Timbr was on my "must try" list, and based on the stellar reviews and it being constantly booked at prime hours, I figured I wouldn't be disappointed. Unfortunately, we must've visited on an off night because all of our main course items took somewhere around 20 minutes to come out, and once they did, all of it was cold. The server, who later explained the restaurant had no warming lamps, tried to explain the reason for the delay, but we didn't really tune in for it and we're just eager to dive into our entrees. Almost as if it was a scene from a bad comedy, they brought a plate of complimentary oxtail empanadas, which were the only thing above medium temperature on the table; however, they were dusted with cheesed despite the fact that I was explicit in my dislike for the stuff. To be fair, I didn't make a big deal about it, as it was a decent attempt to make amends for the inordinate wait time (which we seriously remarked had probably been the longest time we've waited at any restaurant we've ever been to). I almost rated Timbr two stars based on the experience, but the manager (who I met on the night I made the reservation) and the server made it possible for three. Not sure if I'll be giving them another shot, but everyone else seemed to enjoy their dining experience (but to be fair, they all seemed to get their orders much faster than we did)...Almost forgot to mention a 20% gratuity is AUTOMATICALLY added to your bill despite your preference on tipping at that level (or even tipping at all for that matter). While I customarily tip at 20% if the service is adequate, I had no idea this was a thing. Make sure you plan accordingly to avoid...
