We spent Easter weekend at Big Splash Adventure with my boys (3 and 7) along with other family members. My 7 year old saw an advertisement for Shotz in the hotel elevator, so we decided to take them before heading home. I felt bad that they were open on Easter but I was glad my sons were able to experience their laser tag.
The staff working was extremely friendly. We received a discount because we were staying at the hotel, and for 4 of us to play a game of laser tag it was $28. I was a little worried about my 3 year old playing, most places have bulky vests and long cords running between the vest and gun which makes him too small to play. At Shotz, they just have a gun with sensors throughout, which made it so much easier and fun for all of us to play!
We played a round of "Free For All" so we didn't have to choose sides. The round lasted at least 10 minutes and was so much fun to play. Of course our Easter clothing made us stand out like a sore thumb in there, and if we were playing a serious game I would definitely dress in darker clothes instead of the pinks and blues we were wearing. There was plenty of hiding spots throughout the arena, and I had a blast trying to track down where my family was hiding.
After the round ended we walked out to another group wanting to play with only a couple of people in their group, so the workers asked us if we'd like to play again, free of charge. My husband and oldest son played, while I entertained my 3 year old at the arcade. Afterwards we decided to play a round of cosmic golf because we were all having and fun and not ready to go home.
The Cosmic Golf was something none of us had ever played before, and it was much better than expected. We paid $14.50 for 3 of us to play (husband sat this one out). The greens are so dark that you can see hills and slopes, and made it much harder to play. We still had a lot of fun laughing at each other when a single hole would rack up 10 shots!
My family loved Shotz, and we can't wait to visit again. This was our first trip to Big Splash Adventure but it won't...
Read moreOnly giving 2 stars since our own personal experience wasn't that great. Other people might go and have an amazing time. The lady working would often times come off as rude, like she did not want to be there at all. But then it was like she would try to be nice every once in awhile, like she didn't want anyone to think she was being rude or grumpy. We was also extremely disappointed, especially my niece who had been excited to try lazer tag for the first time, when the lady told us it has to be 4 or more people or we couldn't play. She didn't say it required two teams of 2 each, or that it had to be an even number (if so, 2 people should be able to play). Which doesn't make sense, unless it's a cost thing. Because then we would've happily payed for 4 people. So we didn't get to play lazer tag. Which was part of the trip we had planned (We don't live nearby). So we saw that they have a lazer game where you have to avoid the lazers. So we asked her about that and she told us how much it was etc. We went to go pay and the slot to put money in was taped off. We asked her if it was working, she said she forgot it was out of order. So... We got to play cosmic golf and that was it. It was nice and enjoyable, however, not what we had came for. And not our first option. Was very disappointing, especially for my niece who was so letdown she almost cried lol We felt so bad, we let her play a couple of the arcade games in the little main room afterwards...
Read moreWe went to French Lick for the weekend with our children. With our tickets purchased to the water park nearby, we were able to also purchase tickets to Shotz. Shotz has a small variety of options to play. They offer laser tag, 9-hole indoor black light cosmic golf, 18-hole outdoor mini golf, arcade, and laser frenzy. The indoor black light golf course was okay. The setup was cute, and the kids enjoyed seeing the different animal statues around the course, but that was it. Nothing special. Laser tag was by far our favorite! I wish we would have purchased more tickets for the laser tag rather than the laser frenzy. The laser frenzy you HAVE to use $1 bills, and for $4 you have a choice of sending in either one or two people. The area that was set up for it was not working. We tried it twice and spent $8 on nothing. When this was reported to the staff members working there, it was stated to us that “it was working earlier” they just stared at us with no effort to even see what was wrong with the game. When asked if we could get our money back, they were unable to give us a refund. Would have given five stars had we not...
