Saturday Morning
As it warms I will take it easy, take what remains one by one, The strawberries of summer, the oranges of winter, the drive to the farmers’ market So short that my parking lot nose transports me to Fabiano’s Coffee truck, Every week Fab’s old mother does not see me and I don’t drink coffee. The Middle East deli woman stands, not like my masseuse happy to see me, But smiles when I advance to her grape leaves appetizer, beef bourguignon, Eggplant parmesan loaded in leaky aluminum plates in plastic bags. The French bakery’s fruit pastries love me, The jam lady’s small glass jars and the orange juice half gallons In steel tubs of ice remind me of breakfast before diabetes. Vendors spectrum tomatoes, peaches, relentless leafy greens, and The organic Japanese orchard man’s green and yellow plums, nectarines, grapes, and Late lemons picked Friday lead me to the long line of fresh strawberry Woman from her ocean ripe organics three hours west. Read moreI really enjoy this sweet Farmer's Market. There's a good variety of vendors and a great selection of fresh produce and other fun items. There are fresh baked pastries and bread, local honey, jams & jellies, fresh flowers, live plants, and just about any produce that you can imagine! Also, there is an assortment of food trucks serving things like fresh tamales, coffee, fruit lemonade, and popsicles. The vendors are friendly and knowledgeable. Most of them take credit cards, though some don't so be sure to check beforehand. Many vendors are willing to work with you if you want to order a large amount of something. They are proud of the produce that they grow and sell, and are willing to let you sample what's available. This market is well shaded, compact and easy to navigate. It's wheelchair...

Prices are reasonable and in many cases below what you might pay elsewhere (like Whole Foods) and the produce is exceptional.
I've included a few images (taken quite some time ago) - including one of a parrot I captured that was perched up in the tree above the entry.
If you've never been there --...
