My husband and I booked three services each in a couples’ suite to relax and celebrate our anniversary. I felt the ease of booking our appointment exceeded my expectation. The receptionist was very helpful, accommodating, and polite. However, I wish she had explained that in order to accommodate us in the couples’ suite, we would need to do one facial and one massage and then vice versa. This made both of our massages a bit less relaxing than we’d hoped because the esthetician, Brianna, spoke during the service and needed a bright light to perform the service. It could have been more relaxing if she had asked if we prefer she narrate the service or just relax in silent while she performs the facials. This disappointed me immediately because my massage was first.
The massage from Jordan was amazing. We had the Swedish upgraded with their Hot stone/biofreeze add on, and wow! Talk about refreshing (and intense). My back and shoulders thanked me, but it took quite awhile to adjust to the sensation of the freezing cold ointment, and then hot stone therapy. None the less, I thoroughly enjoyed my massage. My husband agreed.
The facial service from Brianna did magical things for my skin and I’m very thankful for her suggestions. We did a white wine peel and my skin is glowing! Again, I wish she had asked me any questions she needed and then asked if I wanted to relax or receive info about all the products she was using, etc. during the service - but the service and her expertise were top notch.
Lastly, we had the reflexology treatment for feet and we both enjoyed it. For some reason, it made us both feel very hot and sweaty but we fell asleep because it was so relaxing. It felt like they dry brushed our legs up to the knees, then a sugar scrub, and massage/pressure point therapy. Highly recommend!
After our services were complete, both Jordan and Brianna took turns talking to us about their observations and recommendations in the same room, with their masks on(obviously) and it was not a pleasant way to end our services. It was hard to understand them, felt awkward, and was a bit much after had been relaxing for the last few hours. It kind of killed the vibe for me and felt very “sales-y”.
Overall the spa was beautiful, felt high end, and luxurious. The bathroom/locker room was smaller than I expected, but very clean and decorated beautifully. I liked that they had a private changing area with a curtain since the room was so small. The benches to sit and do paperwork up front and in the locker room to put your shoes on were very shallow. Not comfortable at all.
Upon check out, they asked us to wait while the esthetician gathered her notes and product suggestions so we sat for a few minutes and the owner, Caitlin, came and introduced herself and let us know she’d be checking us out. She was very professional and polite.
Brianna went over her notes with us again, through the product suggestions again, and then urged us to come back in 4 weeks for other recommended services. We politely nodded, still feeling a bit foggy from our relaxing afternoon.
Caitlin began to check us out, while explaining their member rewards program, other services the offer, went through the suggested products again, and the 4 week return appointment again. We agreed to purchase the products and decline the prebooking suggestion.
We agreed we would love to return at a later date for another special occasion, however, I feel I would need to be upfront about our intentions to relax since we felt their up-selling came...
Read moreI experienced Culture Day spa for the first time today. I'm a pretty big Woodhouse fan and since they're changing a bit, figured it was a great opportunity to try local spas.
My intake was wonderful, professional and kind. In fact I got there a little later ( at appointment time not early, and they didn't make me feel bad at all).
The lockers and shower area could use more than one bathroom, but other than that it's definitely well appointed woth amenities and supplies for comfort.
The relaxation room is cozy, although blankets are definitely needed as it's a bit chilly and there aren't any throw ( insert sad face lol)
My massage...amazinggggg! Only issue ... the light was left on at an uncomfortable level. I think she tried to dim it but it didn't work for her. No one wants a massage given in a room brighter than the relaxation room. It should be a steady flow. There's a $30 upcharge for 2 heat stones to sit under my shoulders for half of the massage. That seems a but much, but it did feel good I definitely don't think it's worth the value for a portion of your massage however.
My next service was reflexology also gracious and felt good. But again with them damn bright lights lol.
There's a review with each therapist afterwards to inquire about your service and give you their thoughts on what they felt. It's a lil awkward. My masseuse was definitely more a natural than my second service provider...it was a bit robotic for her.
Here's where it gets dicey.... well first.. I must say I was checked on frequently in the Relaxation room and even offered a courtesy mimosa.
Ok...so I notice after my reflexology that the top of my big right toe was sensitive to the touch of even the sheet. I shrugged it off as being temporary from laying down so long. But as I moved around and checked my toe it was clear that it got a lil injured/abbraised during the last service like while dry scrubbing or something. But it was uncomfortable to even put my sandal back on.
I go to check out and mention it to the person checking me out....She literally never even says sorry, oh I hate that happened...She tries to convince me that it's from exfoliation as if I don't know what the difference between skin breaking and exfoliation feels like. And then says, well keep us posted on that.... and went on to ask what my tip amount was for the providers...I wanted to say are you serious? In fact I was so thrown off im pretty certain this encounter impacted their gratuity. Even though the second provider clearly went overboard during treatment, they were both kind and mostly effective.
That was the worse response I've ever experienced at a spa...especially one where costs are aligned with 5 star hotel spa offerings and prices.
I fully expected an apology and a courtesy credit on the current or future experience, in addition to a manager conversation or phone call.
This is a clear example of how details and client experience can really muddy what could've been a perfect spa...
Read moreSo seriously, you have to experience this place! It is literally the gift your body and mind needs!
Brian and I have had this thing where we try a spa when we're traveling. With all the camera gear we lug around, it's one way for us to take care of our bodies. Most of the time, we're disappointed. It either feels way to expensive for the service, and/or the service just isn't great. I actually have a $200 gift card from Brian, a gift from a couple Christmases ago. I went once and was so bummed out that I literally haven't gone back even though I have credit there. I just don't want to spend the time on it.
Well, I decided to treat myself and try Culture A Day Spa. It's fairly new in Frisco. I met the wonderful owner through Becka, publisher of Frisco Life magazine. This was literally the BEST experience EVER! And it's only 15 minutes from where I live! Not a plane ride, half way across the world!
The whole experience is DIVINE! From the moment you walk in to the Relaxation room to the treatment itself. Oh my word. I did the Himalayan Stone massage. I was a bit nervous b/c I don't like heat and hot stones. But this was soooooo different. This was like a Swedish massage on steroids!
This is my newly discovered local gem! Enjoy! You're going to LOVE it! Oh! And tell them you heard about it from me b/c they have the most amazing rewards program. I told Brian that this is what I want for every birthday and holiday from now on! LOL!

UPDATE: 10/8/20 I went back to Culture, A Day Spa, and did something I've never done before! Since they're having their two year anniversary special, I tried the Diamond Duet that they're offering for the anniversary! OMG!!
Imagine one therapist giving you the Diamond facial while you get a massage from another therapist at the same time! And the reason they call it a "duet" is because they've fine tuned how to move in sync with each other. I wasn't sure if I'd like four hands working on me, but this was the most unbelievable experience! My whole body melted into the table.
I rarely ever write reviews, but when i experience something with such excellence I love letting everyone know! In my first review, I wrote about how my husband and I have tried spas everywhere in the world. To really feel like Culture is one of the best, and it's in Frisco too is amazing!
Since I'd experienced their wonderful Relaxation Room before, i even went a half hour early and stayed another hour after just reading and taking time to exhale in that quiet, peaceful space.
Both my husband and teenage son said that my face was glowing when i got back! The best! My husband decided it's his turn and went today for his own experience!
Thank you Culture Day Spa for being the most wonderful, much needed escape. For always making the experience so personal and above my expectations. It's such a gift to have the most amazing day...
