This was my first visit and most likely last mostly based on other customers kid's behavior here and how the staff handled this problem.
First, onto the positive stuff. Inside of the restaurant was very beautiful and modern with greenery and the main color of green with accents of gold. It was an amazing experience from the cuts of meat to what they offered at the buffet bar. They had scallops, oysters, squid, octopus, fish for seafood, lots of different veggies, and 3 types of noodles. The cuts of meat were really good, like a buttery and clean taste. I ordered a lot of the meat types as it was good for quality. They also have a $10 discount for student ID holders.
The dessert at the buffet bar was lacking though as it has jelly, mochi, popping boba, and some kind of liquids to mix together. It wasn't my favorite as it was just random stuff. There was some dim sum items like shu mai and bbq pork bun, along with curry stuff too.
Ok, so here's the reason why the rating is so low. I was at the buffet bar when I saw a kid using his hands to GRAB the noodles to put on his plate instead of using the tongs. The kids were very disgusting as they were coughing and sneezing into the food.
Another truly disgusting act was when I was at the dessert bar, these 2 kids took their personal spoons, DIPPED them in the buffet bowls, PUT THEM IN THEIR MOUTH TO TASTE, AND THEN DIPPED THEM AGAIN IN OTHER DESSERT BOWLS AT THE BUFFET BAR. I was really flabbergasted about the situation and immediately alerted the staff about their behaviors. They asked me which one they infected and I only told them they infected half of the dessert bar and the staff promptly took the bowls back to the kitchen to replace. I thanked them for their effort.
I had a feeling that wasn't going to be the end of the kids being nasty after staff replaced the bowls. I sat down at my table and saw the SAME KIDS DOING THE SAME THING, INFECTING THE ENTIRE DESSERT BAR ONCE AGAIN. My partner was repulsed, immediately informed the staff and they just did the same thing of replacing the items at the dessert bar. Staff said they will talk to the family
Thankfully we were leaving at that point because NOTHING WAS DONE WITH THE FAMILY AND THEIR NASTY KIDS. I am so disappointed on how this was handled by the staff and they have allowed kids being straight up vile and let cross contamination at the buffet bar to happen over and over without speaking to that family. I'm not even sure if I want to come back here based on how this situation was treated. Those kids cross contaminated many food items, lacked self awareness and have no thoughts about the consequences of their...
Read moreThis place is not worth $50 per person. I went because I won a giveaway for 50% off my entire table, and I canât imagine why anyone would pay full price to eat here.
I got the medium spicy broth, and it was not spicy. The server told me the extra spicy broth would be an extra $3, which is absurd since it was not indicated anywhere on the menu. My group and I all thought our broth didnât have any flavor. It was like we were boiling our food in plain water. I literally had to go to the sauce bar to fix my bland broth. If I have to pay $50 to eat at your restaurant, I shouldnât have to be seasoning my own broth. I also tried the tom yum soup, and it tasted just like straight tomato soup.
The meat quality also wasnât anything special or âpremiumâ as they advertise it. I personally didnât like any of the meat options. The only thing I liked about this place was the dessert and dim sum options. However, for a hot pot restaurant, it is extremely disappointing the best part of your restaurant is the quantity of dessert/dim sum options rather than the actual quality of the hot pot and meat.
Not to mention, thereâs an extra charge if you pay with a credit card? This was also not stated anywhere on their social media, website, menu, or in any of the advertisements they had all the Dallas food influencers make for them :)
I love hot pot, and I have tried every hot pot restaurant in the DFW area. Unfortunately, this was the most disappointing hot pot restaurant because it is genuinely not worth the price point. I am glad I could try it out without paying full price, but I wouldnât even return if they offered another 50% off of my table. You are better off going to a different restaurant or making hot pot at home for a fraction...
Read moreThis hot pot restaurant is an amazing experience! The interior is beautiful and the service is excellent. The hotpot itself is good and they have all sorts of options for you to eat. They even have a drawer with extra chopsticks and napkins for your convenience.
The meats tended to be pretty good. I was concerned about the lack of anything that I would consider a "premium meat" but the meats that they had were pretty good for their cut. In particular, the flat iron beef and chuck tail flaps were very nice. I also liked their fish, something I always look for at hotpot. The velveted it well so that it's still tender and soft even if you leave it in the broth for a while.
I think they need to enhance the flavor of the spicy broth for it to really shine. For other broths like mushroom, tomato, or pork broth, its fine to not be overly salty because you typically use a dip. But the spicy broth should really be able to stand on its own (although everyone has their own preference). That combined with a lack of a really great cut of meat led to a little bit of disappointment, especially if it wants to compete with Haidilao.
The medium spicy level for the spicy broth is actually decently spicy. They have a whole bar in the center where you can find seafood and vegetables for the hotpot, ingredients to make your own sauce, and fruits and dessert for afterwards. The optionality and convenience of this bar is great. You only order the meat. There is also a sidebar for cooked foods like rice and dim sum options like shrimp dumplings and...
