UPDATE: Really excited to be able to update my review for Moxies. I want to give a shout out to their manager, Jasmine, who reached out immediately after I posted my last review in order to make things right. I had a strong feeling that if I came back it would be a much better experience and they did not disappoint. I made reservations, again, and my husband and I were seated in the bar area as soon as we arrived. Our server was great, offering wonderful drink and food recommendations. We ordered the brussels sprouts and dumplings for appetizer because I have to try the brussels sprouts every where I go. I wasn't particular smitten with them, but my husband and I really enjoyed the potstickers. For our main course I got the Avocado and Bacon salad with the Scottish salmon and my husband got the Blackened Mahi Mahi. We both really enjoyed our meals! I highly recommend the Kentucky River old fashioned for anyone who enjoys a good old fashioned. The ambiance here is perfect for a date night and we will definitely be back!
ORIGINAL REVIEW: I was looking for a place in the Plano area to have a lunch with a friend and I was excited about this place based on the reviews and menu, but my first visit was underwhelming and it was all around the service.
Having never been to the restaurant before I decided to make a 1pm lunch reservation for my friend and me. I got there about 10 mins early and there was no one at the host stand. I waited patiently and looked around the restaurant to see if I could catch anyone's eye to come over and seat me. I didn't see many people in the main sitting area and it looked like most people were sitting at the bar. I also only saw one person going back and forth from tables to the kitchen and didn't want to bother him so I continued to wait for my friend at the host stand and see if anyone came to seat me. After 10 minutes I started to look and see if perhaps I missed some signage indicating that I needed to seat myself, but I didn't see anything. After 17 minutes of standing my friend arrived and we decided to just go to the bar and seat ourselves. Candidly, we considered leaving but she was on a tight schedule and I didn't know what timing would look like if we went to another restaurant.
Once we sat down we were greeted by Ron who was friendly, attentive and offered great suggestions. I had the Cashew Chicken Lettuce Wraps for the entree and I loved them! Perfect flavor so I didn't even try the spicy mayo sauce with them. My friend decided on the The Cheeseburger which she said was really good. I loved the ambiance inside and in perusing their menu it appears they have some really unique and tasty sounding drinks, which I may come back and try during one of their Happy Hours.
I will definitely try this place again and see if I'm able to provide a better review but, word to the managers, if you're not going to have a greeter at the host stand, it doesn't cost you much time and money to put up a sign for guests to seat themselves instead of them standing around wondering what is the appropriate thing to do. I've been at plenty of other restaurants who partake in that option and it makes for a much better...
Read more*update as of 2/12/22 We still love this place. Our families love this love. Our friends love this place. Our coworkers love this place. It is getting busier and if you go on a Saturday, expect a bit of a wait. Make a reservation and you'll be good. We still try and go by every other weekend. We love the restaurant, love the employees (Cambria is still the best!), and we love Ashley. Go by and you'll love it too.
*update as of 7/2/21 Ashley is amazing. She has such a beautiful heart and I consider her family. Bridget is so delightful and sweet, she's like the little sister I never had. The owners of Moxie's must be psychic, cause they hire only the most amazing people for managers. Love Ashley and Bridget. Cambria is super sweet and friendly. Another great employee. Had the white chocolate brownie, it was wow. Pretty much our second home now.
*update as of 6/30/21 Taylor and Katelyn rock. Love them! But.. on the menu there are cheese curds, they aren't cheese curds like Wisconsin fried cheese curds. So heads up.
6/22 and 6/24 visits below I would like to start this review with a thank you to the owners of Moxie. They took a chance on hiring a young man who in my humble opinion is one of the greatest people I have ever met in the food services industry. If I owned a restaurant, I would pay him any wage to steal him away from your company. So, thank you. When you first walk into Moxie, you notice the plaid high back waiting chairs. Luckily for our experience we were greeted by Maddie. She is a wonderfully delightful young woman who immediately reminded me of the outstanding hospitality of Texas. We hope to be greeted by her next time we visit. Luckily, she sat us in the bar area and we were served by Ryan. If you could make a class on how to serve in the food industry, Ryan would be the teacher. He instantly makes you feel like you've been good friends for years. If the food was horrible, I would still come here just for him. So thankful, that isn't the case. The food is amazing. The food choices are just enough to give vegans and non-vegans the opportunity to eat in one restaurant. The manager Jess was very nice. Two days later we went back and had another great experience. This time Rachel was our server and she was outstanding as well. The Chef Troy was also great and attentive. We love Moxie's and will send everyone we know there. ...

I was so impressed by Moxie's! This place is a tad pricey but so worth it! Truly a feast for the eyes.
The restaurant is attached to Sandman Signature hotel, and is definitely not your run of the mill restaurant. Their decor is absolutely fabulous.
Walking into the entry of the restaurant is a bold and beautiful accent wall with greenery and moss. I'm mad about it! There is a beautiful hexagon division panel and the restaurant has all the right balances of wow balance with minimalism. The right fluorescent yellow booths coupled with the black is a lovely contrast. I love all of the LED light fixtures down the middle of the restaurant as well as over each table flanking the walls by the windows.
The bar is well appointed and has really fun tiles for visual interest, lots of TVs if you are into that. It was a pretty warm day so I did not sit outside but it is cute.
Even the bathrooms are masterful here. I had to take multiple photos because they were that gorgeous. And let me me not forget about that beautiful wine cooler. This place totally gets two snaps for being all out fabulous.
I came a little before happy hour started and tried the potstickers, it came with a generous portion of potstickers, a really fabulous sauce with pineapple, bell peppers for the garnish. I also tried the steak bites, they were served with a horseradish cream sauce, perfectly cooked and had an amazing flavor.
Shun was my server, not only was she extremely friendly but was attentive and beautiful to boot.
It was an amazing late lunch and I thoroughly enjoyed it, I can't wait to bring my friends...
