My 71YO dad is visiting from Phoenix with his 75YO girlfriend… we went to Galveston for the day (7/10/23 sometime between 11AM and 1:30PM) and found ourselves on the strand looking for a fun place to have some beer. Came across Axecade and decided to walk up the stairs and found the place. We were waiting at the bar for what seemed like 10 minutes with no sign of any employees. There were two females in one booth throwing axes and and two guys in another. My dad asked the girls if there was a bartender. She pointed to the guys and said she thinks it’s one of them. The guys looked up at us and one of them turned to come towards us and the other said something that made him turn around and go back. My dad then asked the guys if one of them could help us and the one guy (a black gentleman that the girls said they thought was the manager maybe named Eric or Derrick…I’m not sure) looked up and said he would be right with us… after walking up the stairs (my dads girlfriend has bad arthritis) trying to find the place and then being told to wait in a place that was not busy we ended up leaving cause whatever he was doing could’ve waited until he helped us… so that is 4 people throwing axes for an hour or 2 and a lot of beer. Customer service is my biggest need when visiting a new place and it was just lacking. Place looked cool and fun but...

i used to come to this business often but after last night we wont be back again. came to celebrate my birthday, we were planning at leaving at 1:40am to go eat but ended the night at like 1:20 with the owner putting hands on my friend. mind you, we were one of the only groups there, the reason was because we were playing the music after we got permission to play it btw, guess she ended up showing up with her friends and didnt like it. they were all so rude, seemed like they were mad people were there at the same time as them, weird cause you would think they would be happy they’re getting business since every time we have gone there’s barely people there. I do really love the service from the bartenders though, they’re the only reason i gave service 5 stars! they were amazing, super friendly, nothing but great vibes from them!!! the owner however… so unprofessional, if business isnt good one day shes gonna be the reason for it.

edit: my friends wouldve not touched the equipment if they had not gotten permission. notice how you didn’t deny putting your hand on my friend! from what ive heard you’re known for being disrespectful, wont waste my time or money there...

SO.MUCH. FUN!!!🤩 We all loved axecade. Our kids loved axe throwing, who knew??? They asked to go back the second AND third day! We all had a great time. Something for everyone - arcade, axe throwing, dancing, AMAZING music, drinks and food if you like. The staff is all so welcoming, friendly, and helpful. They make you want to be there. They give you the rules and safety and a tutorial and help if you need anything. The security was super friendly too. You can tell they like their jobs. 😍

The drinks are very much lacking alcohol though for the prices many of the glasses looked dirty (maybe hard water stains?) so I asked for plastic cups which they obliged happily. The men bartenders one night were constantly wiping their wet hands on the back of their pants, then touching straws they put in drinks and touching the tops where you put your mouth instead of the middle which was gross to me. I’m probably the only on that would be bothered by it though but I was. We had already eaten so didn’t get to try food but saw others eating and it looked pretty good. The bar chairs on the axe throwing side of the bar creates too narrow a passage to get through...

This past Saturday we had a baby shower after gathering in the early evening. A party of 15 or so. Arial (Stacy) was our server. From the time of our arrival she was immensely helpful. She understood the intricacies of the movement of a big party and never once lost a beat. When we needed her she would literally appear. She has a heart for people and making them feel welcomed. We ordered food, threw axes, played at the arcade, sat and chatted and had a few drinks from the bar. She listened to our requests and made them happen. I can easily say, that she was one of the best servers I have ever had. We're looking forward to coming back and hope Arial will be there! She is a keeper and knows her job through and through! Great place! Great views! Awesome pizza and entertainment as well!!

Spent the morning at the beach and decided to hit up Axecade afterwards. Best decision of the year. This place is GREAT! We scanned a QR code going in to sign a waiver, then we got an entertaining instruction & demonstration on throwing the axes. Approximately $20/person/hour, seemed very fair. Drinks were strong and delicious, bartender made us Old Fashioned with Makers Mark per our request. After an hour or so of throwing the axes, we hit up the beer pong tables outside for a bit, then did one more game of axe throwing. Did not get to try the food but will probably do so next time. Honestly we cannot wait to go back. See yall soon!
