Just went to Galveston on vacation with my girlfriend. I have a lot of tattoos, including on my hands and face, and my girlfriend has a couple, as well. On our last day, we hit the historic district to see the strip and buy some gifts for family. We head into this store, see the first woman who works there and say hello. She ignores us. We see some glass cups we thought looked nice, so I grabbed them and then grabbed one of the baskets they keep by the door to hold them in. We walk to the next section of the store and one of the other 3 women there comes up and takes the basket out of my hand, saying “I’ll take this from you and keep it behind the register. Anything else you grab, bring up to the front and we’ll keep it with your basket, too.” Already knew what it was gonna be, at that point. We go to the back to look at the clothes they had, and one of the other employees followed us the entire time, so I go back down the steps to the Halloween section to look for a gift. The older black woman who was there was nice and showed me the display items they had on the shelf. The woman working the back kept following my girlfriend around, so we left. Before that, another couple came in, with the boyfriend having a lot of tattoos, as well, and I saw that the employees did the same thing to him. We instead went upstairs and got gifts at Stabby Granny’s Knives and Things, where the woman who runs that store was extremely helpful, kind, and passed no judgment. Tina’s is judgmental, rude, and it seems like they’ll treat you based on whatever prejudices and stereotypes that they have in their mind. Save your money and get something nicer and cheaper from one of the many other shops on the strand where the people are...
Read moreI went in there with my family and as I was looking around I saw the soaps they had displayed. I took a picture of them and the lady whipped around really fast and rudely asked me if she could help me. Dumbfounded, I told her no thank you and continued looking at the soaps. I then took another picture of one and sent it to my friend because I trying to see what she would like for Christmas. The same lady came up to me and began rudely telling me they don’t allow pictures to be taken in the store because they don’t want other stores to know what brands they sell. While sure I can understand your reasoning (even though if I were another store I’d BUY the stuff and take it back to my store and find the person to buy more from) there are no signs saying not to take pictures and there’s a way nicer and more polite way to tell your CUSTOMERS you would not like for them to take pictures. I think it was extremely rude and very unprofessional and I’m disappointed. I will definitely not be going back there and I don’t think my family will either, as they were with me when it happened. If it’s such an issue, please post signs and in the future don’t be rude to...
Read moreNice shop. Just not cool when I mentioned Joe Biden was in town for Junteenth, then one of the workers decides to trash talk and threw shade. We were stunned and angry and decided not to spend anymore time there. It's good to have a productive debate about issues and people. I would've been willing to be engaged, but felt this wasn't the place when celebrating our 30th anniversary. Edit: I appretiate Christina(manager) reaching out to us about the incident. Thanks to Christina, the sittuation was resolved and we are vary greatful for her understanding and good leadership. We will definatly be at Tina's on our next visit to the Strand....
